A whole new amazing experience for your train.
We got a train set for our grandson, he loved it, but the controller malfunctioned, the manufacturer was nice, and offered a free replacement. But that would take a while, and I wanted a real controller, I remember how great an MRC controller was when I had my first model trains a long long time ago. So, I found this controller, and ordered it. Amazon had next day delivery which was great. Our grandson loves how this controller runs the train, slow and steady, or fast if you prefer, but the low and slow is what he loves. The momentum setting is so fun for him, and using the brake is fun. The momentum setting is actually teaching him physics in my opinion. I am so pleased I made this purchase, and I am pretty sure you will be pleased as well. The controller has the look and feel of quality, and is just great.

Really nice train controller
This controller works very well. I especially like the momentum feature for realistic starting and stopping action. However, although MRC says this controller is OK to use on N scale trains, the output voltage is so high that only about 1/3 of the throllte rotation. MRC does offer a voltage reducer, the AT880, that will lower the output voltage by about 4 volts and multible AT880 can be connected in series to lower the voltage even more. MRC does make controllers with lower output voltage but those units do not have the momentum feature. Would be nice if MRC made the Tech7 760 with adjustable output voltage.

Plenty of power
I have a larger track set up and needed more power and this works extremely well. Control panel is user friendly and speed control is simple to use. I really like the momentum and brake features.

MRC is the best in DC Model Train Control and Power.
I really like the spring loaded brake switch. I think MRC should put it on all their power pack systems. I bought this at a fantastic price. Quiet a bit less than a hobby store.

Reliable power
We use this on our test track in our electronics shop at the Children's Museum. It provides reliable power for us to service our G-scale locomotives prior to sending them back to the play floor. Simple & reliable.

Alternative to Starter Transformer
Bought this MRC Tech 7 760 pack to replace a starter LGB transformer for an older LGB G scale train set. I had added a motor driven sound tender to the starter set which just overloaded the little LGB transformer after only a few minutes of operation. This unit has enough power for the loop around the Christmas tree with the engine and tender combination along with a few cars in tow. I am able to run the train set for quite a while but it will eventually overload if run for an extended time, say well over 30 minutes. The overload indicator is much appreciated; however, we don't really use it that much where it is a real concern.Maybe it is the pack I received or maybe it is because it is a G scale train but I never saw either the braking or momentum in action with this larger G scale. Can't fault that since I am using it for the G scale and the MRC 760 is intended for smaller scale set ups. I would take the word of others that this pack does provide those features with the smaller scale train sets.I have seen braking and momentum in action with the MRC 9900 throttlepack and those features are pretty nice to use and do work with my analog G scale train. Either way, I am going to keep the MRC 760 as a back up to the MRC 9900 since it can get the job done with our basic G scale train set up.

Purchase this power supply
If you buy a boxed train set, mount it to a board, and try to operate it with the power supply that comes with the set, chances are that you will be disappointed in the operation of your train. The tech 7 will remove that disappointed, I just wasted money feeling. This power supply is for N and HO scales. It can be used for non dcc and dcc layouts. If your just getting started or a seasoned hobbyist this is one of the best. I've been using MRC power supplies for almost 35 years and my only problem that I have had is trying to decide which model I wanted to purchase as an upgrade for my layout. This particular model features momentum control, which helps to eliminate the herky jerky movement of scale locomotives. While it won't fix a badly worn or in need of some gearing maintenance, it will allow your train to operate smoothly and more realistically.

MRC is my favorite choice
Momentum control is fantastic. This pack is just perfect for a small to medium G scale setup. I have 4 different MRC controllers and I prefer them over Kato, Bachmann, LGB, and Piko. In model railroads there is no limit to the amount of money you can go through in a hurry. There are very expensive power pack and throttle combinations available that provide fantastic options. I am primarily analog user, although one of my MRC packs enables DCC functionality like sound, speed, and lighting and can also be toggled to straight analog. That's about as far as I go for now in digutal. My tech 7 has enough power to run my trains with lighted cars and also accessories. For greater current demands I bought the MRC Power G a monster with 10 amps and a variable transformer fan cooled. The Tech 7 momentum control lets your loco behave like a real train. It will start very very slowly, reach the set speed, and slow down very very slowly. It has increased my enjoyment tremendously. MRC packs do not have wall transformer dongles, they are all in one so you can turn the entire unit off. They are a great value compared to other power packs. I get better, smoother running at affordable prices. I have not overloaded one yet and I light up as many cars and buildings as I can.
