McGard70005 Black Nylon Lug Caps - Pack of 4

I bought the only McGard locking keys available at my local automotive store not realizing from the packaging that they'd leave the lug threads exposed. But since protecting my investment was more crucial than returning the locking key nuts, I went ahead and installed what I had. Then, in the McGard packaging, I saw an ad for these nylon lug caps. I found them on Amazon instead and ordered them. They screwed right on to the McGard key nuts I had and completely resolved the exposed thread problem. They are similar to hard plastic, but they will do the job fine. I screwed them on with a socket in my hand rather than using a ratchet, and that has proven tight enough for nearly 1,000 miles, so I'm comfortable this is a done deal. (I'd be careful about not over tightening.) BTW - I bought the chrome and black covers because I wasn't sure which ones I'd want (and they are cheap anyway). I have aluminum wheels and chrome lug nuts, so I opted to use the chrome and keep the black as spares. Quality was better than I anticipated, although this being an unusual item, I really wasn't sure what to expect.If you got the McGard lug nut keys that I did where the threads remain exposed, these covers are a MUST! The last thing you need to worry about is getting a flat and not being able to get the damn key nut off because it has frozen up with dirt, grime, and rust or corrosion. This cap will protect that from happening for sure.
