I haven't had this product for very long, so I'll update the review when I feel like I've got a much better understanding of the longevity of the piece. Here are some initial thoughts and evaluations:PROS- Perfect size. I like smaller watches and at 34mm, this thing fits my wrist rather comfortably. It doesn't appear to be too small or too large. Hits the sweet spot for me. Your experience / opinion may vary. It all comes down to taste.- Legibility: All great field watches must be legible. I've found that the white numbering is a perfect contrast with the black dial. The numbers stand out very well. It's incredibly easy to read in the dark.- The Band: Let's not make the mistake in thinking that the band is of super quality. It's not. This is a $20 watch. However, it is incredibly comfortable and light. I bought this watch for a summer piece (due to the heat and the amount of time I spend outdoors, I didn't want to risk damaging any of my mechanical pieces, so I looked for a great beater piece) and the lightweight band gives the wrist plenty of room to breathe. At this point, I don't care how long it holds up, because the comfort and the weight make up for any longevity issues in a cheap watch.- Heritage: This watch has got it. Macgyver wore the olive version (I would have bought that, but I managed to get this at $16 and I decided to be cheap). Plenty of soldiers have relied on this watch for at least 30 years. In the 80's, it was an incredibly popular design. What's not to love?CONS- No date complication: I know this is a matter of opinion and it's hard to complain about features that are lacking with a watch in this price range, but I'd expect that a date complication wouldn't have been that difficult to add. It would have made the piece a much more utilitarian and ultimately one that was much more useful.- No indiglo: I'm surprised that Timex is still producing models without indiglo. Every other watch they make seems to have it. Now, the lume isn't bad and it's certainly legible at night, but you just can't beat indiglo. It's awesome.- Water Resistance: It's not great. That's a big drawback to this piece. It'll hold up in a rainstorm, or if you fall in the water, but I wouldn't trust it in any other circumstance. Ideally, 50m would have been a good rating for this piece. But at the price, it's not a deal breaker.Overall, I'd highly recommend this watch. It's a classic. If Timex would offer it in a mechanical offering, oh boy....

Perfect, except the nylon band fades & not water-proof?
I work as a swim instructor part-time so I'm in the water at least 20 hours a week. So obviously it'd be helpful to have a watch with me at all times in the pool. A few checks here and there and I decided on the Timex Camper.First month was great but then I began noticing something weird about the watch. The band began losing it's color in to a weird tealish colour and it started to fog under the crystal. The band continued losing more of its color and more fog built.By the third month the watch always carried a fog in it but was still working and the band was completely an eery green. So I replaced the band with a $4 replacement at The Bay. This new band was also Nylon. For the next two months the band was perfect! No discoloration at all! Except the crystal continued to build up fog until the fifth month where there was literally a puddle in the watch and it ceased to continue working. And here we are: Upset this awesome looking watch had a nylon strap prone to discoloration and a watch advertised as but not actually waterproof. So upset I went for the warranty, paid $14 to ship it. I wasn't covered but the awesome people at Timex were sympathetic and sent an entire new watch (not the same but similar looking, expedition edition) for $10 to cover shipping charges. So $24 in total to replace my watch. And P.S. actually love the style of this watch so much, I bought the same watch in green. So to summarize:- Band fades in chlorine- Do not use it in water for prolonged periods of time(My green one is still working and I use it in the water, maybe my original black one was just defective--though the green band DOES discolor as well)- Expedition edition better for water-related activities

Satisfied with my new watch
Years ago, I had a Timex Expedition watch that had a green composition case and came with a matching green velcro band. I loved that watch. I took it on motor cycle trips, camping trips, hikes and other adventures. Unfortunately, I gave up that watch in a divorce. Recently I started wearing a watch again after many years of using my smart phone as a timepiece. In an effort to duplicate me previous Timex, I purchased this Timex camper watch. I have a small wrist so I was looking for a watch that had a smaller case/face. This watch fits the bill. I had to purchase a separate velcro band. Bingo, I am now satisfied.

It's really really small.
I have thinner wrists then your average person even tho I am an athletic type, so I picked this thing up as it's supposed to be a little smaller than an average watch.Well turns out it's much, much smaller. Kinda like a kids size watch. Description says that the face of the watch is 38mm, but further down in the description, you can find it says it's 33mm. I compared it to a knock-off Casio f-91w so you can get the idea of how small it is.that being said imma still wear it. did thought about returning it, but decided to keep it. it doesnt get in the way and i wont feel sorry if i scratch it up

It’s a great looking watch
No indiglo! Unless there’s a secret button I’m yet to find!

Watch face is too small.
This watch should definitely be listed as a youth or child watch. There is nothing wrong with the watch except that the face is really small and would look silly on the wrist of a grown man. The case diameter of this watch is 33 mm.I returned this watch and bought another model of Timex Camper (T2N3644E). This other watch has a case diameter of 40 mm. 7 mm doesn't sound much but believe me....it is.

Camper Watch
The description was inconsistent. It did not support an indiglo light but in description it did so. The watch was good but it had to be returned for this reason.

Excellent watch. This was the second of these watches ...
Excellent watch. This was the second of these watches I've now bought for different son's birthdays. We have one in olive and one in black. Great watches, good quality...perfect for the Bear Grylls type boy!! It was in the children's section for watches too though says adult on box so strap came up a little long on my 10 year old but still wearable.
