Sturdy,attractive,not bulky,perfect!
Love love love this retro chair/stepstool! Name brand, not cheap,BUT so well sturdy and well made! I am only 5’1”, so I need a step stool with 2 steps, and I find the seat so handy when I am making recipes that require constant stirring. My granddaughters love it too! It’s not bulky, but it is very sturdy.. a win-win! Just get it!

The Kitchen Chair
I purchased this 8 months ago but waited a while to write a review so I could see how well this this would perform and I have to tell you it has proven to be a very sturdy well built chair/step stool that has held up beautifully to the rigors of everyday life with a disabled person, me. I knew when I bought this assembly would be required and thought to assign this task to my son, but, he was not available when it arrived and being the impatient person that I am I set myself to the task instead. Surprising I found it to be a fairly simple job given all of the cautionary tales in the reviews here regarding this, the instructions were clear and I did not run into any problems, it took a little time but most things do for me these days. I gave it a home in my kitchen with the job of letting me sit on it while I do the prep work for my meals, cook, eat at the table and wash the dishes. It comes through like a pro by being very sturdy, stable, with a wide seat that makes me feel secure while sitting yet light enough to be easily moved around and small enough to tuck out of the way in my less then spacious kitchen all while displaying it's retro good looks. With limited mobility and a need to take a seat quite often this chair/step stool has been a real blessing for me. The taller height of the chair makes it easier on me to go from sitting to standing and while I am standing in my kitchen the top bar on the chair back has also been very helpful during those times I need a little something to hold on to steady myself. For the price this is fantastic buy one I would happily make again.Update 2022: Still in daily use and it has held up beautifully over the years. Does it function and look as good as the day I got it?... Yes, yes it does! Rarely do I find something that is this durable for such a great price.

Decent chair for the price, good look for the kitchen
I have a retro style kitchen in an old house. I wanted a stool/chair that I could use for myself and my kids. I purchased a repackaged step stool to save a few bucks and received a brand new chair. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble with relatively few interruptions. One of the back bars was bent during shipment, but I was able to bend it back manually. The seat is on hinges, so it does slide side to side, but that's not a big deal. I am a little concerned about the hinge - the screw is metal but the attachment parts are plastic and they may not last. For a high traffic kitchen, I doubt the seat's thin vinyl covering is going to last long, either. There is not an easy way reupholster it - I even emailed the company asking for tips, but they said they didn't have any recommendations. The way the vinyl is attached to the chair would make it hard to take it apart without wrecking the seat. Another weakness of the seat was one I knew about going in - it's white. There is already a mark on it that won't come off.The second step of the step stool gives under my weight when I use it. I weight 130 lbs, so I don't feel like I'm putting undue strain on the step. The black part of both steps is ridged and traps dirt. The legs are at an angle to the floor. I put felt pads on it to protect the floor, but because of the angle, it was difficult to affix them. It will probably be a short term solution. Depending on what type of flooring you have, this could be an issue.I like the way the chair looks, and the seat holds me with no problems. The kids love using it. It's lightweight enough to move around the kitchen without too much trouble. I put felt strips under the seat to prevent it from slamming down, which have worked great. Conclusion - it's not a bad stool for the price. However, with a few minor adjustments - better quality material on the seat and reinforced second step, it would have been an even better buy. I would have paid more for those improvements.

This chair is very versatile
This chair is nice. I use it in my garage. I have 2 from 26 years ago and they have held up fine. Except for the covering, their kind of worn little bit. This chair is about a fourth bigger than the original and about twice as heavy. Very versatile and slip resistant. If I need another one, I'll buy the same brand.

Perfect for reaching things in upper cupboards
This Cosco step chair is perfect for reaching things in upper cupboards in my kitchen. It was easy to assemble. The chair arrived on time and in perfect condition. I would buy from this vendor again, and I highly recommend the chair.

good chair
I purchased this for my 80 year old mom. She said it was easy to assemble when she got it. She loves these chairs, hopefully this one will last her a bit!

Works great if you give it an extra minute to assemble
This was purchased to add a multi-purpose piece of furniture to the kitchen in our little 1 bedroom apartment. It works great as a stool and also quickly becomes a few steps so that my wife can reach the top shelves in the cabinet - great if you want to save space.I was a little worried about buying while reading some of the reviews, but I always take negative (and positive) reviews with a grain of salt. Turns out, if you put the chair together correctly, it works just as advertised. If it is wobbly to you, just loosen the bolts a bit and re-tighten everything in a standing position little by little. The method I used was snugging all of the bolts up to start but not tightening them down, then stood the chair and locked everything in. No wobble. Maybe I just got a good one, I don't know. The only thing wrong (not worth losing a star) was that one of the plastic foot-covers is damaged a bit. QA probably should have stopped that from going through but it's definitely not a deal-breaker and not even really noticeable.
