Perfect perfect perfect
My living room has built-in bookshelves that I wanted to turn into an entertainment system. These were perfect for running cables to adjacent shelves and they look fantastic. I had no problems with the two parts staying attached, and in fact fit quite snug. The 2-1/2" opening is plenty big for power cords, speaker wire and A/V cables.I used a small hacksaw to cut them down and it was a chore (and given the odor I probably breathed in some toxic fumes, too). Were I to order more, I'd probably use a Dremel to make quick work of them. They also gave me my first opportunity to use a hole saw and arbor, so thumbs up for that, too, I guess. After cutting the whole, the two parts slipped right in, a literal perfect fit.If you're looking to run cables, hoses or even pipes, with a nice finished look, cannot recommend highly enough.

Worked perfect for my home theater as opening for cord management.
Love the fact that it can be custom cut to fit the cabinet frame depth. It worked out perfect for my needs. Also, matches my dark cabinets.

When cutting to length use a fine tooth blade in your saw
This product was relatively inexpensive and it worked awesome. I really liked the fact that It had measurements already marked out for you and it worked wonderfully for my purposes

Wonderful grommet for 2.5" sideways pass-thru's
My original plan for cabinet had a shelf on the right side and a TV hole on the other of a vertical wall. Thinking I would need space for cords, plugs, etc., I had figured I would drill a 3" hole, not realizing my largest hole saw was 2.5" -- and thank goodness because this purchase was difficult enough to find, and the 3-inchers were worse. This was one of very few grommets that has the lip on both sides. It has a guide printed on the grommet wall where to cut for a particular distance. There were two "issues" with this product (not huge issues, as it still has a very high rating). The tension fitting takes up about 1/4" of space, so for a 3/4" board, I had to cut the grommet at 1/2" instead of at 3/4". This isn't really a big problem except for the second "issue": it isn't tremendously firm plastic and was flexible enough it made cutting with a hacksaw difficult. The pressure needed on the saw would flex the plastic so it took longer to get a start on the actual cut, long enough the saw blade was more than just warm to the touch, but once it was started, the saw cut through it very easily. When the first cut was finished was when I discovered the 1/4" discrepancy. Once again, not a big deal, but I did have to do another cut, and of course the majority of my handle had just been cut off. Cut number two required a great deal more care so that I wouldn't get my fingers in the way of my hacksaw. I had two holes of that size, one above the shelf and one below, so I did have a second grommet to size as well. The third cut went much easier than the second, and I can confirm that the 1/4" taken up by the tension fitting is standard. Easy to install and looks fantastic, especially for the price!

Looks great.
I had to cut a hole in a cabinet in my laundry room to run a cold water line to my dryer (with a steam feature). I didn't want to run the house over the center sink/cabinet and wanted to do a professional looking job and go underneath. I was looking for a clean looking grommet, and this fit the bill. Make sure you have a 2 1/2" hole saw, and when creating the hole, try to cut the cabinet straight through in one shot. One of the cuts the drill jammed up on me, so I had to pull out and try again... this probably made the hole slightly a little bigger than needed, and I cut the sleeve of the grommet a little to short (the last line) and it wasn't snapping tight... and was popping out... So I just used a little super glue to hold it in place, problem solved. The second time I installed the grommet on the other side installed beautifully learning from my prior mistakes. If you are doing a premo job this is it. I was just going to get a black rubber house and splice it down the middle and use that as a grommet but this is much more professional.

Kind of chintzy for the price
Using to run a garden hose through a deck. Thought it would be screw together but it's not. Plan to glue it in place. Not sure what kind of glue will adhere, though. Less than half the price elsewhere.

Extremely easy to install and use.
I'm building a custom tool cabinet for my cordless tools, chargers and batteries and wanted something to protect the cord which comes out of the cabinet (from an industrial outlet strip) which is made from plywood. This worked exactly as I had hoped. I was using 3/4" plywood so I cut the ring to 1/2" and everything fit well. Because this is installed in a mobile cabinet which will move around my garage at times, I drilled/countersunk three small holes in each piece so I could secure the pieces to my cabinet.
