Buy it. It's what you're looking for.
To be completely upfront, I was expecting disappointment here, but for the price/return policy, what harm could there be in trying one out.The packaging was top notch.... the shell was in a small plastic bag, then wrapped in bubble wrap and then in its own custom little box. Install was completely straightforward with the only minor hiccup being the middle PS button. Honestly though, it's a non issue. If you have even a half ounce of mechanical know-how, you'll figure it out... I didn't even make any cuts and just stretched the rubber contact to fit.All the button and sticks work as they should and I was extremely pleased with the fitment. I opted to use the original PS screws right from the start and just went really slow with it. I even backed the screw out a couple of times and then forward as I was real nervous about cracking. So I went slow, didn't over tighten, and everything fits fine. No gaps to speak of and no janky edges. I can't even tell the difference in my hand.....sometimes you just know when something feels off or cheap, but this wasn't it.My only "problem" to speak of, is I wish I had 4 more controllers so I can get some more colors!!I highly recommend this product. If you've ever taken a PS controller apart you should be fine for this install but I do recommend checking out a YouTube video or two as the ribbon cables on the PS4 controller can be a little daunting on your first go. Just go slow, keep track of how you're removing things, then repeat the process backwards as you button things back up.I will definitely be grabbing another color or two, and yes it feels like such a bougie purchase, but who cares, it's fun and looks sick!! Is it wrong that I want buttons and LEDs now??

Looks great
I bought this product originally intending on replacing the face of an orgininal DS4 controller that I received in the box on release night. Unfortunately, this is incompatible with the older style controllers due to the placement of a screw hole for holding down the motherboard. Fortunately i also have a few newer controllers that this fit perfectly on in the end. After the fact, this face plate looks fantastic however. Will have to read the description more closely next time

Great look with a headache lesson
I'll start with the good. I have a JDM-40 controller and it fits perfectly from the outside. There are no gaps or seams running along the edges the look and feel are amazing. The texture is very soft to the touch and smooth if you run your hands along it. It feels great in the hand fully assembled. The analog sticks glide along the edge of the plastic. The internals all fit well except for the silicone part for the home button. I had to place free hand to get it in the right spot. The cutout for the PS button doesn't seem to fit the JDM-40 controller's silicone design pattern .The bad. The screws are terrible soft metal. The holes are not threaded. Two of the screws stripped as I was closing trying to tap the threads with the included screws. headache lesson 1, Do this first without the shell installed !! If it gets stuck you can always use needle nose pliers to back up the screw. I learned this the hard way because I couldn't get the stripped screws out and had to break open the controller, ruining my bottom shell in the process. The top shell was fine. As a result of this I had to purchase a bottom shell (extremeRate sells a few textured grips and I went with the soft brushed aluminum) This part was bittersweet because I like the bottom shell I purchased, but didn't want to have to shell out 15 dollars to fix the controller, I would have been fine with the original.bad thing #2: The cutout for the right analog stick wasn't perfect and my stick was grinding against the wall when tilting the stick down. I had to sand the inside (used 600 grit, then steel wool, then micro mesh to polish it back) This took about 20 minutes of sanding and reassembling to check. I was careful to polish it back so that scratches wouldn't show from the outside due to the see through nature of this shell. I'm happy to report there are no scuffs and it looks good and the stick moves freely and smoothly.Overall, knowing what I know now, I would buy it again for a different controller. If you decide to buy one, make note of the bad screws and accommodate for them.

Outcome is great - putting it on was finicky though.
First, disregard any review saying it doesn’t fit - just check your numbers inside. That’s all you need for a guaranteed fit.Second, I love the way this faceplate looks and feels. This was my first PlayStation controller “mod” and it was fairly easy to put together. If you just pay close attention to how your controller is put together as you take it apart like I did, you really won’t even need any instructional videos - I managed just fine without. So, overall, easy input, easy output.Third, the only issues that really came up had to do with the screws, screw holes, and logo button area (I believe these were mentioned in previous reviews, too). As someone else said, do use your original screws. The ones included are some softies, and you won’t want to get these stuck in there once you mush the screw’s “+” into “o.” I had a bit of trouble getting the screws in, but it just needed a tiny amount of elbow grease. It seemed like the hole might not have been fully aligned OR it was just made too short (screw didn’t easily go down all the way), so you have to “carve” down further into the plastic using your screws - no biggie though. Just use more strength and watch out to not overdo it. You’ll be able to tell when it’s fine. As for the logo button in the middle, when you compare it to your original faceplate, you can see it’s a bit different as to how it wraps around and where the holes go, but all you need to do it just stretch it over a little bit. Again, no serious biggie.Aside from the truly minimal problems, I love this thing and it was a piece of cake.

Can't fit won't fit.
Will not fit a PS4 controller. Plastic bars inside the shell prevent the shell fitting properly.
