GE JES1657SMSS 1.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Countertop Microwave

simple, powerful, easy to use without needing to constantly refer to a guide. We wanted only to re heat food and coffee. we do not cook with microwaves. We do not bother with any ALEXIA. DO not NEED that tech on OUR house. But we are very happy with this GE so far. it has only been about a month.

I have tried to be loyal to GE, having installed aii GE appliance suites in 3 homes with good results.This microwave was defective right out of the box. I set it for 30 seconds to warm my coffee. after about 15 seconds it automatically added 45 more seconds, and finally added a total of 1 minute 55 seconds. Needless to say, it boiled my coffee all over the counter. Its going back. Come on GE.

It heats everything quickly and pretty evenly too, which is a bonus. Looks nice, lazy Susan inside can hold a regular size dinner plate. This is our second one- the first one had a mishap and we couldn’t get the burned plastic smell out. Still worked tho! Note- don’t try to cook instant noodles in the microwave without using water... oops!

This microwave was relatively inexpensive, easy to use, and not too loud. I have used it about once or twice a day for the past two years and it performed the task of reheating food adequately. After two years, the heating mechanism sparked, made a loud noise, and a bad smell. I took that event as the death of this microwave. I expected a longer lifetime from this device, so would not recommend it to others.

This unit worked right out of the box, and flawlessly. The ventilation fan is one of the quietest that I have seen. At the end of each cycle, there is a four-beep alarm, and then there is a one-beep alarm every minute thereafter. Although it will accept precise-to-the-minute time cycle, it also has a one-button express time cycle, which is very helpful. Given that it is hard to keep fingerprints off of a polished surface, it starts to show the imprints after a while – I guess that is the hazard of any polished metal surface. Probably the most important feature of this unit is that the radiation leakage around the door is practically zero. By contrast, the Panasonic unit, that this unit is replacing, had major radiation leaks around the door. I am very happy with this unit.

Much stronger cook than most this size. Capacity is nice (can fit a platter in it). Lots of button features and defrost has both time and weight which are very accurateCon: Had it for about 4 months now and am noticing the door open button needs to be pushed harder than when I first got it.Warning: I've had 3 GE microwaves and all of them had peeling paint on the inside after using for a long time. GE has been MORE than helpful when I contacted them through Facebook each time. They've always given me a prorated amount in a 'good will certificate' which is a reimbursement if I buy another GE microwave.

Over one year in and it’s still going strong!!!!!Got this to replace an older GE model that was very similar to this one. Easy to use, powerful, and has very convenient cook-time presets. The "add 30 seconds" option is new and useful! The baked potato sensor cook function works perfectly! Also has a cook timer that can be used separately from the microwave itself. Love it so far!!!!

Worked great for 8 months and then stopped heating. Getting a replacement under warranty but it looks like the process will leave me without a microwave for 1-2 weeks. Had to submit some paperwork, waiting for the authorization form to come now (4-7 business days), then I can go buy a new one at a store. Then they say it will take 4-8 weeks for them to send me a check after I send in a copy of the receipt. Their call center for this model is only open 8-6 EST which was annoying as I'm on PST, the main number has longer hours. Had to call them back to get them to actually send me the email to respond to with the paperwork too. So be aware if it fails you're going to be in for a long and annoying warranty process.
