All but the rubber part...
I love the colors, I love the fit around the ipod. I noticed some people complain about how the screen was a bit loose over the ipod screen. I noticed that for maybe a day and by then my fingers had gotten used to it and everything was back to normal. You can cancel out the need to go through any adjustment period by buying this the same time you buy your device.I have dropped this many times in the case and it has not been damaged a bit. Lets go through all the pros and cons...Pros-strong case that will stand up to all the dropping-looks great, very vivid colors-pretty well protected from water... I haven't dropped it in the ocean but I have slide it near my skin where it has gotten exposed to sweat and i have spilled various amounts of water on it and nothing inside has been effected.-It adds bulk to the device so I am not afraid it will get crushed-People think it is an iphone now.Cons-playing some games and using some apps is made a bit difficult because of where the sides are. They are at an angle so it is harder but not impossible.-The screen can take some time to adjust to-The home/belly button get easily scratched up so the color gets a bit ashy... This bothered me but i got over it. I might coat it with some nail polish or something.- On the rubber case part... it is lose in the top left corner. This was annoying from the start but I got over it because it still does the job well.-another flaw or the rubber is on the bottom where the all the plugs are... This happened recently but i have noticed that the area above the headphone jack has become a bit stretched out. Probably due to all the movement it gets but still something I wished was fixed.- There is no cover over the back camera so it can still be damaged. It is deep in a cavern of sorts so it is not going to get scratched but it can still collect dust which may bother some people.-There are not many docks for the lighting cable let alone docks that can hold this case... I have just decided to get over that- I have not been able to find a case that fits over this one so that I can work out with this and I do not want to remove it from the case every time I feel like running. It is possible that otterbox has them on their website but i have yet to make an investment.Overall I love this case and do not regret buying it. All the flaws are easy for me to manage and I would buy this case again and suggest it to people. I do think I will look for a replacement for the rubber part eventually but that is not to big a deal since I have had it for a good 8 months so far and I didn't start having problems till about 6 months in.I say just go for it. If you don't like it you can always return it.UPDATE- I have had this case for a long time at this point and I just got it replaced for free. So this is another pro to having this case, you can go to the otterbox website and get it replaced because it has a lifetime warranty.I did not even need purchasing information. Just took pictures of my case and they sent me a new one.

My 3rd Otterbox Defender case and the Best so far
Thanks to the Lighting plug this Otterbox Defender is the best yet. I am so happy the dinosaur 30 pin plug for the iPod Touch is a thing of the past. It caused all kinds of problems for case makers trying to sealup the hole. The Griffin Survivor case did the best job of that, in fact the Griffin Survivor is the in some ways still affords better protection then the Otterbox Defender. The big irritation with the Survivor case however is the flap that seals in the backfacing camera. In order to use it you have to physically hold it out of the way of the lense, this is prevents one handed shooting. With the much better camera and flash the iPod Touch 5 has I decided to return to the Otterbox Defender. I am glad I did. The seals at the base for the 3.5mm earphones and the lighting plug seals things up nicely but are still easy to open. I particularly like how they did the cover for the home button. I can live with the wide open ports for the cameras. The Case design it's self is much better then past Otterbox Defenders the silicon rubber of the outter case is not as stretchy as with past defender boxes. I feel the Otterbox Defender is a great compromise between the max protection but less user friendly design afforded by the Griffin Survivor, and other cases that don't come close to the either the Defender or the Survivor in keeping your expensive Touch 5 from damage. Amazon saved me $20 bucks over the price of this case directly from Otterbox and with Amazon Prime I had it in 2 days. I am a happy man.

Very nice case!
I ordered two cases (both Boom) because they were the cheaper of the colors. After I ordered them I had second thoughts about the color, but once they arrived I saw that they colors are dark purple and a light purple (I was afraid it the lighter color was PINK). I have had an otterbox before (was for a Kindle Fire HD) and this case is the real deal. It's 100% otterbox, not a knock off or anything. I love how protected my iPod feels, but this case doesn't make it "bulky". I 100% applaud Otterbox for including a lanyard on this case. That's something I wanted in my next case. BTW, I did have a Griffin Survivor on my iPod and while it is a very good case, it's bulky (I don't like that too much). Also, this case is x1000000's better than the Lifeproof case for the iPod (that was the first case I got and I HATED it). This case was very easy to install. It fit perfectly, no issues. I like that my Apple logo is visible and that the camera is exposed (the griffin had a tab over it, which was annoying to have to remove every time I wanted to take a pic). I have NO issues swiping up or down on the iPod, not sure why some people are saying they do. Also, there was no "rainbowing" on the screen at all. All in all, I give this case 5 stars. Very nice and was exactly what I was expecting in an Otterbox. I would definitely buy this again and I highly recommend it.

OMG - I am truly amazed. He's one lucky kid because after all of ...
Bought for my kid's iPod touch. I am sitting here this morning in disbelief at how well this has functioned for my family. He has dropped his iPod numerous times and absolutely nothing happened. He chews on the thing (I know, EW, right?) and some of the rubber had peeled off as a result. Then, last night, coming out of the car, he dropped his iPod touch in the snow. It snowed more during the night, completely covering it. My husband found it the next morning by running over it with the snow blower - after it went through the snow blower and the thing spit it out. Sounds unbelievable, I know, but true story - the iPod touch now has a cracked screen, but it still works. OMG - I am truly amazed. He's one lucky kid because after all of this I wasn't going to be in any hurry to replace it if it had broken :) Thanks, Otter!!! Even with the missing rubber, it managed to protect his device.

Over priced, but of great quality, as usual.
As Far as otterbox's this is a great case, excellent quality materials and a perfect fit! My only gripe is that they screen protector floats slightly above the screen and you have to press down to contact the screen, which diminishes accurate or quick typing. My daughter doesn't notice or care though. I have recently used a unicorn beetle case and found that their screen protector lays flat and is accurate for typing and gaming, it has a rain-bowing effect unlike the otterbox.

Great look, strong protection
Daughter loves the case and with taking her iPod to high school so we can communicate with her having some protection on her device was a necessity.

Excellent fit and function
This case fit perfectly and was made well. The access ports have flaps that close nicely when not in use to keep clean and as water-resistant as possible. The wrist lanyard is a nice touch that helps avoid dropping it.
