Snap Circuits UC-40 Electronics Exploration Upgrade Kit | SC-100 to SC-500 | Upgrade Junior to Pro

Very cool! Great ad-don onto sc100! Going to 511 pre-designed projects, as well as an ability to do much more by simply modyfication and mixing of the current projects. Certainly worth $40!Keep in mind some of this is a bit advanced for kids below 10, and attention span may be a bit of a challenge, but as they grow they will probably not outgrow this set! The books have some small errors every so often, so some reverse engineering was moderately needed on few projects we tried so far. No question that the whole family can enjoy this if electronics is within your interest!Anyhow, I would definitely recommend this if you already got sc100, and if you do not get the whole sc500 or even go to sc750 (I am planning to upgrade to that for Christmas).

My STEM schooled 6 year old loved the base kit so we purchased the upgrade. He was super excited to receive at Christmas and begs to work on pretty much every other day. The concepts taught here show him how to think about electronic devices that are all around us...what enables them to do what they do. He points out "circuits" around town at interesting times. Very happy with and strongly recommend if your child is a tinkerer. The kit and projects are simple and easy for him to manipulate the parts.

Overall a good product. Plenty of projects for my son. From the few I’ve done with him, I wish the FM radio had greater volume. I did try the second project with different components for lowder volume, but still insufficient. I’d still recommend it.

My son had snap kits before buying this upgrade kit and had already built pretty much all 100 projects in the original kit on his own. He got holiday Amazon money and was told he could spend it to upgrade to this kit and was excited to do so. When it arrived he quickly built many of the major new circuit designs. His favorite by far was the FM radio. Now the FM radio player is always playing and he rebuilds it often.

An upgrade for the smaller kit we sent him originally. We've been sending our 8 year old grandson various kits to acquaint him with various electro-mechanical devices. These Snap Circuits kits seem a winner according to his mom and his excitement when we talk to him. He spends hours with the different circuits. Snap Circuits has done an excellent job putting this material together.

Purchased this upgrade kit for my Grandson, who greatly enjoyed the original SC100 kit. Upon receiving this, though, I quickly found out only half of the kit was included, which rendered this item unusable. Quite an embarrassment as a Xmas present! This looks like it has been everyone's experience with this kit. Sent an e-mail note to the Manufacturer, whom sent the other half of the kit (UC30) reasonably quickly. Now we have the whole kit, and all is well. However, no explanation as to the faulty packaging, nor apology.

We got these for my 9 yr olds birthday. He turned 9 in April. He was so excited to receive the upgrade from the 100 pc set he'd bought from his older brother who'd lost interest in them. He has spent many hours setting up new tasks with this set. I rather he spend long hours working with his hands, and frontal brain than exercising his thumbs playing mindless games on the internet. These are great for kids!

Ok, so we ordered this for Christmas for our son. He had the SC-100 Snap Cicuits Jr., and this was to "upgrade" it to the SC-500. Nope. Sorry. Not really.What is the upgrade, you ask? Well, you get the DIRECTIONS for the SC-500, but NOT THE COMPONENTS to actually BUILD the SC-500 circuits. It's like getting a LEGO kit with the directions, but not the bricks to actually build the described models. I'm really disappointed in this. I don't know if it's Amazon or Elenco or somebody in between, but somebody failed to describe this accurately. So, what do I have? Well, we just tried to build the second circuit in the book, the FM radio, and MANY of the components required are NOT in THIS kit or the original SC-100. Where are they? Maybe in the SC-300...which we supposedly didn't have to get due to this upgrade option.DO NOT ORDER THIS IF YOU HAVE THE SC-100 AND WANT TO BUILD SC-500 CIRCUITS. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Hours and hours of circuit board fun for my 8 year old! He has issues with focusing on the task at hand but with Snap Circuits he will play all day long! Definitely worth the investment!!

My 6 ur old niece and me both enjoyed the base kit enormously.. So got the extension..amazing fun and really good learning for kids and helps inculcate scientific curiosity and experimentation. Quality product with ease of use and durability in mind. Can't recommend enough for today's kids

One of the smartest children's toys to come along in a long while. With so many projects that can be made, just by snapping pieces together.My grandson loves his new sets, and has already been working through the projects.
