Needs a protective flap for the screen
Thanks to Stephen, for confirming that the medium bag can hold a Nikon D7100 with the 18-200mm lens attached, I went ahead and purchased the medium. He's right, it can work, but it is a very tight fit: however hard I pull the drawstrings there is still a small gap in the center, and right below that gap is the screen of my new camera. So, a camera in this bag is not exactly completely protected from the elements... The material is high quality, and although I haven't tested it I'm sure it is waterproof, but that is only worthwhile if you plan to set it down in a puddle (OK, I really meant damp grass). I need protection from rain that falls from above, and here's the problem... that little hole. The material protects the camera, but the construction of the bag precludes protection because of that little hole left in the center of the drawstring. Now, I know that shouldn't really matter, after all the intention is to toss this liner into another bag, but when I see the screen of my new d7100 just below the surface I feel that this is not the perfect solution for me. What might make it perfect is if there was a protective flap... So, I'm considering keeping the sac if I can convince myself that I can somehow attach a large microfiber cloth to act as a protective flap for my screen... perhaps I can secure it between the Velcro for the custom spacers, or maybe I could just sew one in... If anyone has ideas, or if Crumpler reviews our reviews then there may be a perfect solution in the making! Needless to say, this would all be irrelevant if I wasn't already impressed with the materials and general construction. If your camera is smaller than the D7100 or you use a shorter lens I highly recommend this insert bag.

Well made, but not super easy to use, depending on your equipment
I purchased this to fit inside a purse or other bag so I didn't have to lug a big camera case around with me on my last business trip. I felt the protection was adequate for this purpose and when packed well, I was not worried about my camera and lens rattling around or being damaged during travel. The only issues I have are that the outer pockets were not very useful for me and only SD cards fit very well. The pockets are tight, which is good if you have flat SD card cases or other flat objects, but I wasn't able to put anything in it like a charger or cable because at least in my case they were too big and would not fit so I had to put them inside with the camera body and lens. The other issue was dealing with the velcro spacers inside. Talk about hard to work with. Worth the trouble to make your setup fit securely, but a real PITA to get the spacers in the right place without snagging the fabric as you're trying to insert them where you want them. This is the medium bag, and I put a Canon T3i in there with the kit lens 18-55mm on the body, along with a 50mm prime lens, and the charger/cord. Those three things were a very tight fit, and only fit one way. Smaller cameras would fit better, and larger cameras would barely fit with only one lens I suspect. Depending on your needs, this might work out for you, and the quality is very good, no doubt about it. It's designed for one thing, and one thing only, so don't expect a lot of versatility. For the price, it was worth it for me to make sure my gear was protected, but it was kind of spendy so I'm not sure I'd get another. YMMV

Best alternative to a camera bag ever!
I can't say enough good things about this bag. I love it! I most own upwards of twenty different camera bags but none of them does exactly what I want in the size that I want. I wanted a bag that's secure and comfortable which made me settle on a backpack style. The problem with them is that they have compartments for things but not normally any extra space for misc things. The ones that I found with the extra space are huge and not set up for what I want, plus that backpacks are so rigid that you can't easily maneuver them into places that you want. I know they are rigid to protect my expensive lenses and camera bodies but I needed something more flexible that would also still protect. This is the product for that. They come in different sizes but I choose this one because I mainly wanted one that would hold my basics only. I can fit my dslr with an attached lens and also one additional lens perfectly into this bad. You close it up with the drawstring and it's padded on all sides including the top. Nice thick padding too. Now, this bag is made to go into something else, it isn't made to be carried as it's own bag. I found a wonderful children's backpack that wasn't covered in flowers or cars or cute animals and had padded straps and back. I put this bag into the backpack and it still allows me to add a few extra things like a thin jacket, my wallet, phone, car keys, and a bottle of water. I zip up my backpack and I'm ready to go. It was perfect for our trip to Disney. I had the camera equipment that I wanted, I was hands free with it being a backpack, and it could smoosh it onto the rides without worry because the crumpler insert is so nicely padded. I can also easily take this bag from the backpack and move it to a different bag if I wanted something bigger to carry more stuff. This is definitely that best and last bag I'll need for my camera.

Fantastic
Excellent.Don't buy a cheap version, like me you'll regret it. Very well made with thick protection.A Nikon d750 with 24-120 lens fills it but that's fine as it needs to go inside another bag
