are the windows 8.1 drivers not bad? The asus sound card I just bought has terrible drivers with 8.1

I used the drivers that came with the Xonar U5, and it works just fine on Windows 8.1

How many watts per channel?

This is a external sound card not an amplifier capable of driving passive speakers. It's output is preamp level (mw) which necessitates connection to powered speakers which have their own onboard amplifier.
