Acceptable workbook for any curriculum!
This workbook is great for first graders. I believe this book is appropriate for both home school and simply for extra practice outside of the classroom! The book has over 150 pages of material. This workbook consists of quite of bit of critical thinking and problem-solving.The practice pages are easy to follow and motivating! Much like the website Beestar; an educational program that is often full of colorful and interesting content. This workbook isn’t colorful but it is still entertaining! My child was struggling with math until her teacher recommended entertaining learning tools; such as quality math workbooks and an entertaining online program called Beestar. The combined resources have extremely helped my child’s grades! I strongly recommend parents to check it out and pick up a few workbooks like this one!

Supplemental Math Activities to Accommodate Multiple Learning Levels
I currently own both the kindergarten version, as well as this first grade book. I think this is a fantastic way to get children on board with math, regardless of their particular learning level. The key is that it challenges children to use critical thinking and problem solving to finish the activities. Overall, it's a great way to engage kids into doing math work, especially if it's one of their least favorite subjects. The Math Workshop book covers the flowing different math areas with plenty of activities in each: cardinal numbers, operations and algebraic thinking, base ten number, geometry, data, and measurements. While the work is meant for a group setting, we are able to adapt it to our own homeschool math routine without a problem. I've personally found that the work covers a broad range of grade levels, which make sense, given the idea of math workshops. While this is for first grade, I believe some second graders will benefit from it. There is some two digit addition and subtraction work, later on. I also found some easier activities that even kindergarteners could complete. Really, it's a mixed bag of math levels in my opinion. It's good to keep in mind that many of the workshop assignments require various materials that you would need to also get in order to complete some of the math activities. Prep work for an assignment may include having access to a printer and using card stock to print off math problem cards. We do this a lot in our lessons anyway, so I had many of the items on hand, although I though it was worth noting for those who may be considering this book for their students. Each workshop begins with a detailed page or two to help teachers prepare for the assignments, which is especially helpful for me. Everything is organized broken down into sections and there are plenty of teaching tips to help me make the most of my child's lessons. I like the typeface and font size, which are large and more age appropriate for younger kids. Perforated lines allow you to pull the pages out of the book for additional photocopying or individual practice.

Useful for differentiation!
This book is useful for lesson planning when you have to differentiate in a classroom. It's a good supplement to an existing program or a helpful aid if you need some ideas of where/how to start a "math workshop" in your room. The quality of the text and drawings is excellent. The first section of the book gives an overview of what "Math Workshop" can look like in a primary classroom. The workbook includes tools for planning, tools for student accountability, and ways to introduce this to your classroom. The rest of the book is divided into math topics such as:Operations and Algebraic Thinking (counting on, making 10, finding unknown numbers)Number and Operations in Base Ten (comparing numbers, counting to 120)Measurement and Data (comparing lengths, time concepts, bar graphs)Geometry (2-D and 3-D shapes, composing shapes)Each of these sections has a plan for guided math lessons with an essential question, warm-up, mini-lesson, math talk and journal prompt. Each section includes differentiated worksheet for remediation, on level, and enrichment. The lesson plan also tells you what materials you need to teach the lesson and what activities you can have in different workstations. There's a hands-on activity for every lesson. The back of the book has some game templates that can be copied and prepped for activity centers.I'm going to check out the other grade level books in this series.

Good practicing book
This book is both fun and helpful in improving kid’s math skill. It seems cover most of what school is teaching during grade 1- addition concepts, time, composing shapes and making ten. The instruction allows teacher and parents to teach students easily. It has practicing and fun activity pages which makes learning math more fun. My kid enjoys the activity a lot. My only complain is the page design is a little bit crowded. Too many questions/ instructions squeeze in one page. Kids at grade 1 are still practicing their muscle and writing skill and most of the time they need bigger space to write.

Great book....
This is a wonderful tool for teachers, and I especially appreciate it as a homeschooling mama. There are mini lessons in here, with directions for the teachers, along with reproducible activity sheets. There's also journal prompts, questions, and other helpful guidance.Even if you happen to want this for only one child, you'd still need to copy the pages. The activities are on front and back. Some of them require cutting, so if you cut the original, you'd lose the back of the page. This book was made for copying purposes. The pages are perforated to make this easier. If you had the time and budget, it'd make it super easy if all the pages were pulled out and placed in plastic sleeves within a binder. While some of the activities are more basic, many of them look fun. Of course, the fun factor does seem to decrease as the levels rise. (Level K is more fun than Level 5.)These are nice, helpful books for teaching supplemental math. They're a blessing for me!
