The New Kings of Nonfiction

Tons of solid essays in here. This is a great collection that is at once amazingly informative and wildly entertaining. On multiple occasions I have stopped myself to read large portions aloud to my wife. All the while, I find myself becoming an expert on topics as varied as the World Series of Poker, the SEC, talk radio, and much more.If you enjoy "This American Life" you will thoroughly enjoy this book. One of my favorite books of the last 10 years. Bought this copy as a gift.I skipped a few of the chapters (very uncharacteristic of OCD me), and still managed to adore the book.

My step-daughter was taking a class that required her to read and write a report on the book, "The New Kings of Non-fiction." She couldn't find the book in the library, so I went on line to look for it. I found the book and ordered it, and it arrived sooner than expected.

I liked most of the stories, but a few were really long and boring. Pretty interesting. Recommended read. The few in the middle are so tough to finish.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Great read! I enjoyed all the stories and am looking for another book by Ira Glass with this variety. Can't stop telling everyone about this book, but the cover has to go...

I love these stories. If you are looking for short reads, get this book. Many good stories are in this book that I greatly enjoyed.

I love Ira Glass and This American Life, but this collection of essays curated by him was a disappointment. Some of them were good, but there wasn't any unifying theme and the collection was uneven. Also? It's a very male collection. There was only two stories by women, and one of those was about men.

I read this years ago and I still think about and refer to many of the pieces that I read in this book.
