Heart of the Moors: An Original Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Novel

The first order of this book came in damaged so I had to reorder.I was reading up on the new movie and the article recommended this book as in-between the first and second movie story. Having that viewpoint BEFORE reading it definitely makes more sense.As a stand alone book it isn't bad. Mal is my favorite villian so I loved the first movie and the character depth that was added. If had not read the article about this being in-between the movies I might not have given it such high praise. It basically explains some in between filler things that mash well with the pre existing storyline. I see it as filler between the larger arc. The author does a great job of making it seem Cannon and nailed the personality traits perfectly. You really feel like the characters would say and act the way they do and the choices they make add to their character backstory.That all being said I enjoyed the book very much. I read it in one day. I don't feel as though it feels complete on its own and again stress that it feels like good filler for the movies. As a book reading it unknown about that fact it would feel more like adventures of Aurora and Mal and sort of misplaced. But if you read it as I did, as a side story if you will, then you will enjoy it and the second movie will make alot more sense.The artwork on the cover is beautiful. I just wish the in-between chapter pages would have had more beautiful artwork and not just empty pages that look like they have washed ink over them. It's a bit odd. It doesn't take away from the book but doesn't add anything either. I would have preferred more art even hand drawn or nothing at all. But the weird grey colored pages just seems out of place.Overall I recommend it's a good read for maleficent fans.

What a brilliantly told story in the Maleficent universe! Ms. Black has another jewel in her shinning crown! This was full of heart and unexpected happenings that were twisty and turny! You can't help but love Maleficent for all of her salty beautifulness. Aurora is strong and determined and chooses to do good. I liked the heart of this tale, that being true love. Love comes from all sorts of beings, related or not. There is romantic love and the love that exists between friends and then there is the love of a parent for their child. There are still many other versions of love. There is something so alluring about Maleficent that makes you want more of her. In the land of fairies I'd love to meet her and maybe watch her soar through the clouds. Ms. Black wrote a story that transcends age and genre. This is sure to be a beloved classic upon your bookshelves! 💗💗💗

I wanted to love this, I really did. I downloaded the Kindle version and read it and while I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either. The story DID get me excited for Maleficent: Mistress of All Evil. But I thought it was a little dry in terms of action and moving the plot along. I would recommend it for someone who is a huge fan of Maleficent and the films, but I would advise to check it out from your library rather than purchasing it. While not a horrible read, not the best read either.

The story is set after the action of the first movie, but before the one currently in theaters.Black shifts between the perspectives of Aurora and Maleficent; as Aurora adjust to being Queen.An entertaining fantasy that stays true to the movie characters.

I got this book for xmas and I am very excited to read it. It came in good condition and seems high quality. The cover is gorgeous and I love Holly Black, so I am sure it will be great. I will update my review if it ends up not being good after I read it

I absolutely loved this book, with its amazing characters(Maleficent is my favorite) and how wonderfully it ended. Truly a beautiful “true love” story!!!

Believable known characters and a lovely story. If you have enjoyed the movies and prior holly black novels this will be a treat!!

I love this novel. The characters are true to themselves. The novel shows the aftermath of the first movie and it's interesting to see how some characters deal with trauma. It's very realistic. I love reading about why Diaval doesn't leave Maleficent after his debt is paid and I loved the interaction between Maleficent and Prince Phillip.

I adored the movie. Then I discovered Holly Black, one of my favourite authors, has written a sequel. Couldn’t wait to grab it, read it in one day, and am thoroughly satisfied. Before I did, though, I watched the movie again to refresh my memory. Now I can say that this book perfectly captures the tone and characterisation it was inspire by, to make a deliciously authentic sequel.

Bom, mas não traz muita novidade. A história se passa entre os dois filmes de Malevola, trazendo personagens novos e uma trama focada em Aurora. Tratando-se de Holly Black, esperava mais.

Libro en buen estado, esperaba que fuera de tapa dura, pero no pasa nada.
