I opened it up and observed the product was well painted and looked good. I noticed the swivel was extremely tight and difficult to turn by had. At that moment I considered sending it back but did not because even if it didn't spin it would work for my application. I JUMPED TOO SOON. Once I installed the swivel on my seat and sat down on it, it spins freely and works great. I guess it needs weight on it to operate. It fits standard boat seats perfectly. I plan to use more of these on several upcoming projects I have planned. There fore it will take a 1/4" bolt, from 5" to 51/2" C to C. **Q: What is the noise level if any when turning.** A: I bought 4 of these seats to replace the seats in my lund alaskan. I like and would buy again. They make no noise when turning. **Q: ICan you recomend a sturdy swivel to acommadate a 40" wide seat** A: my fishing buddy weighs 240 pounds, we have used the swivel with no problem, it is a 6 1/4 inch mounting requirement which may be different than your wide seat.
