This book came in perfect condition! The German is really good. I am in my third year of German, and I can understand the basics of German. I bought this book to enhance my vocabulary, and reading skills in German. It has great vocabulary, and once you understand them it is an easy read. I totally recommend this book. If you are more of a beginner German speaker it is more difficult to understand so be prepared to have to use a German to English dictionary. For people who have been in German for a long time, and know past tenses this book is perfect. Either way it is a great book, and I totally recommend it.

Harry Potter der Stein der Weisen war eines der besten Bücher, die ich jemals gelesen habe und das erste Buch, das ich auf Deutsch gelesen habe. Das Buch half mir viel, meine gesamten Deutschkenntnisse zu bessern. Das Buch half mir besonders dabei meine Lesekompetenz zu verbessern, was durch meinen Fortschritt, auf die Ergebnisse meine ersten und zweiten Sprachprüfungen, gezeigt wurde. Ich habe schließlich die maximale Punktzahl im Leseteil der Prüfung erreicht und habe letztendlich die Prüfung bestanden, aber im Gegensatz dazu, hatte ich meine erste Prüfung nicht bestanden. Als ich meine erste Prüfung schrieb, hatte ich noch nie ein Buch auf Deutsch gelesen. Im Gegensatz dazu, als ich die Prüfung zum zweiten Mal schrieb, hatte ich dem ganzen Buch fertig gelesen und mit meinem Deutschlehrer Kapitel für Kapitel besprochen. Diese enorme Veränderung in meinem Leseverständnis zeigt, welchen Einfluss das Lesen eines Buches auf meine Deutschkenntnisse hatte. Das Buch ist auf mittlerem Leseniveau geschrieben, was damals die perfekte Wahl für mich war, um mein Deutsch zu verbessern. Ich würde auf jeden Fall dieses Buch für Deutschlerner um das B1-Niveau empfehlen, weil es anspruchsvoll ist, dennoch verständlich. Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen ist ein bedeutendes Werk in der modernen Literatur, wegen die fantastische Handlung der Geschichte und das mittlere Niveau des Buches macht es perfekt für Deutschlerner.

This was a Christmas gift for one of my best friends, who lives out of town, so it had to be shipped. She's trying to learn German and this is very helpful! She wanted a challenge, to try and translate Harry Potter from German to English.

I have always wanted to be able to read in another Language and I love the HP books in English. This book combines the Great HP story with German making it a fun way to learn another language and to read HP. I would recommend getting the HP books in German or any other language you are interested in and learn to read in that language in this manner. I do suggest that you dont cheat and use the English HP books as a guide because the sentence structure in German will then be very confusing. Grab the HP German Book, A good German Dictionary and have fun. :)

If you are a native English speaker trying to hone your German reading skills, this is worth consideration. I had previously read this story in English and Spanish and had seen excerpts from the French translation. As German is my third language, it has taken some time to become familiar with all of the vocabulary, but given a basic understanding of the sentence structure and having read this story more than once in English, I found this a good exercise. This was greatly facilitated by the fact that this translation is very close to the original English--probably the closest of the translations I've seen. The book itself is also physically well-constructed (sturdy spine, intact pages, etc), unlike some comments I have read about other editions. This would make a good addition to a German teacher's library or to any multi-lingual child's collection.

I loved that it was gently used over the years and so it feels like an old book but I will still be able to enjoy it. I can read it auf Deutsch and get my practice in. It's use make it feel like it was once on the other side of the world and so it has a great big worldness to it that feels therapeutic.

Several years ago I lived in Switzerland where I learned to speak German. Since then, I have lost some of my ability to speak German, so I bought this book hoping it would be at an 'easy' read. It took a few pages to get into the right mindset to read in German, but now I am reading it a lot easier. I occasionally use my English version to help me understand the meanings of some words better. If I am understanding the words right, this German translation does capture much of the same feeling and mystery that is in the English version.

大学で独語を履修中、好きだったH.P.の原書がほしいというので購入 表紙はかなり格好がよいので 見栄えはする しかし原書と言うのは、その内容を知っていてもなかなか最後まで読み切れるものではないのは多くの人が経験されていると思う かくいう私も、英語の原書を読むには興味のあるものを読むべしという言葉を信じて D.H.Lawrence Lady Chatterrley's Loverのペーパーバックを買ったが、読み切れず、しかも俗語辞典がないと意味がわからないという 実家の本棚のなかで紙魚のえさになっていることでしょう
