B&M 80681 Z-Gate Automatic Shifter , Black

Easy install, works good, inexpensive, installation manual not the best, references " Fig.1" 4 or 5 times, and there is no "Fig 1". had to call B&M, was told I have everything they had to provide, but arguing , finally they found "Fig.1" and sent it to me.

3rd shifter I've bought just like it. It's my go to. You can shift it in your sleep

Product is good, easy to setup but for my application turbo 350 the indicator on the product doesn't match exactly with what gear I'm in.

I could add a few pics to this review but I allow nobody complete access to my photo album so you'll have to visualize. The B&M Z Gate floor shift is a nice functional unit but the ease of installation goes with your degree of automotive fabricating skills. My shifter went into a 1973 Satellite Sebring on a custom console with 12v power, fuse block, lights and switches. The top part is a little easier than the bottom install because the YouTube videos show a workbench install (A904) and it aint that simple. Cable routing is a bear. Not that you can't get it to it's final destination but flex limitations and proximity to exhaust heat and engine vibration is present at every turn along the cable length. I have dual exhaust and that only doubled my problems with heat and cables. You can do this but it's not an easy as 1-2-3 and done project. You will use a lot of words your Mama told you not to, scraped knuckles and greasy crap falling on your face as you lay on your back peering up into a maze of tubes, linkage and wires. Good luck, I'm happy with mine and that it is done, also I would have killed for an auto lift.

B&m always makes a great product I have used the shifter and several different project builds and they always work great I really like this one due to the reverse lockout when you're banging gears going down the track

I've installed these in numerous Hot rods over 30 years. The Th350 in camaros and Chevelles are easier to install than the Duster 318 headered mopar 904. The ones made today are of lesser quality that 25+ years ago but they do come with almost everything needed to install out of the box, you may need longer bolts for the shifter body if your floor pan is too thin. The instructions are good. They are just a tad pricey for what you get but stil a better bang for the buck than the mega series. It Should have came with a longer shift cable.It just barely fit. Make sure you have a good ground strap to the engine block otherwise you can ground through the shifter cable and burn it out.

Quality exceeds price.'92 F350 w/ C-6. Full ratcheting shifters can be annoying in the woods. By using a slightly different slower technique this shifter functions with out any lock out. When you shift quickly it prevents any skipping. I didn't like being able to accidentally shift into neutral so I shortened the linkage (3rd shows Neutral, 2nd shows 3rd etc.). You must pull up on the "T" to go to neutral, reverse, park. I wouldn't install this on a dedicated race car but a definite upgrade from a worn out column shifter. Hardest part of install was the tiny cotter pin in the clevis at the shifter.

Nice item, high quality great fit

As the cheapest B&M shifter on the market it really does perform well. Solid enough build quality for a street car. If your not a fan of the ratchet shifters, this a good alternative.

It didn’t show up with 90% of the parts. Box was destroyed. I had to send back.
