Williams WSMD-10HRC 10-Piece 1/4-Inch Drive Deep 6 Point Socket Set

First of all I love that it is made in the USA! In addition, it is the quality you’d expect from the USA. The profile is slender most of the way down the socket. Should be great for getting in Ford Focus door panels. I took a picture of it next to a Taiwan made magnetic impact socket. You can tell that the finish and profile are much nicer on the Williams socket. Since purchasing this socket to fill a niche roll in my tool box, and being impressed, I also purchased some full sets of Williams sockets and other Williams products like the totally awesome T-handke ratcheting screwdriver Made in USA and almost a mirror image to the Snap-On. The Williams 1/2” deep metric sockets I ordered however, were from Taiwan (still much better than Chinese sockets on a number of different levels). The Williams short 3/8” metric Sockets were made in and stamped “USA”. Also the Williams 3/8” deep metric sockets were stamped “USA”. Not the cheapest sockets in the world but considering the quality and country of origin, I believe it to be quite a bargain. Keep in mind also that even though my 1/2” williams sockets are stamped Taiwan, Taiwan is not China, is capitalist, and they still appear to be very well made (I’m assuming that since Williams and Blue point are owned by Snap-on, that the Taiwan made sockets by Williams are Blue Point sockets with a different roll mark or stamping, but I could be wrong). I actually prefer the name of Williams over Blue Point anyway. If “USA” is a big deal when considering whether to buy Williams sockets, just remember that USA made Williams sockets have part numbers starting with letters not just numbers like their Taiwan brethren. This 5.5mm socket however, is made in the USA and is a great stepping stone to buying more american tools for your box. Sometimes like you see at Harbor freight, the 5.5 isn’t always included on the socket sets. I am pretty sure that when ordering Williams socket sets, they don’t skip sizes and do sell complete sets.

I would give 5 other then most pekole complain about small lettering of, yes it is horrible. Tool itself work great. They could do better with lettering and numbering.

Again, I own all the Williams sockets. Stop asking for my reviews. Ofcourse they work amazing otherwise I’d get some garbage trash like gearwrench. Nice thin profile so you can stick them in where the sun don’t shine.

Sockets are nice but like other reviews state it’s very hard to see etching on sockets. The rail is a waste since it’s so cheap. My set had (2) 5.5mm and MISSING the 10mm which as we all know is the most important of the bunch. Kind of disappointed.

Williams has a problem. They seem to think that we don't need to know if their items are made in the USA or not! I bought this set of English sockets from them and they are stamped USA. So I purchased a metric set from them and when I opened the package and saw "Made in Taiwan", I got sick. I JUST PAID $50.00 FOR 12 SOCKETS "MADE IN TAIWAN" JUNK ?!?!?!?!?? NO WHERE IN THE AMAZON DESCRIPTION DOES IT SAY, "Made in Taiwan". I have 3 sons that I am planning on spending thousands on "Made in the USA" tools ... I'll never buy Williams again! They deceived me! Not to be trusted.

Shallow broached. If thats what you're after, these are great. The are inexpensive, built like the snap on ones, and come on a flimsy but functional rail. I've got a few sets of williams sockets.
