a great way to disinfect raw fruit and veg
Microdyn is a great way to disinfect fruits and vegetables. When traveling in Mexico it is indispensable if you want to eat raw fruit and veg. Its safer than bleach. Its made from colloidal silver which is also sold as a dietary supplement. Make sure you follow package directions and soak the food for as long as it says to and mix up the right concentration. Its not necessary to rinse it off the produce after its soaked. This is not for vegetarians, one of the ingredients is 'grenetinas de origen animal' and while I've never seen the word 'grenetinas' before in this context I assume its gelatin from animal origin. Other ingredients translated are distilled water and ionized or colloidal silver.

A wonderful product
I bought this for overseas travel, where I will be buying fresh produce and want to disinfect it if it is to be eaten raw. Food-grade H2O2, which I use at home, is a caustic substance, probably not allowed, and too bulky to pack. I stumbled across a reference to Microdyn in an online posting and ordered it. There is no way for me to know if it is as effective as claimed, but assuming that it is, it's very handy to use. I typically make a pint at a time, rather than a liter and use it over a few days before discarding the solution, which makes it more economical than it appears at first glance.

This stuff is a no-brained if you will be making your own meals in Latin America.
No one tells you about this stuff, but apparently it is widely used in Mexico. I only found it because I wondered why Mexicans don’t all have amoebic dissentery (Montezuma’s revenge.) They use this stuff when washing veggies, they only drink bottled water, and they only use ice from reputable venders. I don’t know why this is not common knowledge! I’m glad I found out BEFORE going south.
