Marxist Ideology personified.
If you are an ideologically possessed Marxist you will love this book. Otherwise it is a meaningless bunch of faux foundational spoof like drivel.

This is an excellent, enjoyable text for any art education student or seasoned teacher interested in issues of social justice and art production. It provides both theoretical foundations that are relevant and well-illustrated and practical suggestions that are clearly described and applicable in a wide range of contexts. Dewhurst's narrative arc is thoughtful and well-organized, and readers will be inspired not only by her story and the stories she tells, but by the many examples of pedagogical practice and student work she details with enthusiasm. Dewhurst's passion for art, education, critical reflection, and young people is clearly evident and infectious in this great book.

Dewhurt's book clearly shows how young people bend their art toward justice by making personal connections, asking deeper questions, and communicating with an invisible audience before they share their work with the larger world. For art educators, social justice researchers, and adult allies in positive youth development, this is an comprehensive read on how to nurture young people's proclivity toward fusing creativity and shared humanity!

a big fan of this book!
I can't wait to share this text with my colleagues and pre-service students. It's a must have for any art educator who is deeply considering the intersection of education, equity, and justice. Dewhurst's writing is accessible and engaging that will draw audiences beyond the art educator world.
