ASAP Bluegrass Mandolin: Learn How to Play the Bluegrass Way

A great introduction to playing bluegrass mandolin.
This book is a great introduction to the playing of bluegrass mandolin. Written by a master of the art, it introduces things in a logical manner and provides plenty of examples on the CDs so that it's clear what we're supposed to be doing and we can play along over and over until we can match the recordings. A great book for people who don't live near a bluegrass mandolin teacher or who just don't have the time for regular weekly lessons.

Sehr gute Mandolinen Schule

Pedagogy and Talent Aces ASAP
I'm embarrassed I've taken so long to file a review, especially since ASAP is so good. Eddie Collins is not only a master mandolin player but also a degree teacher, and a great writer. I got ASAP about two weeks ago, and I've used it every day since. That's right, I am practicing and enjoying for to 20 to 30 minutes a day. That said, I'm now only on page twelve because Ernie suggests one be able to do the basic major scales without looking at one's fingers or pick, before moving on. I am not intimidated by this book, and this is the second week in a row I've played my mandolin( basicD,G, A, or C,F,G chords) , with a veteran guitarist and a talented keyboardist at local retirement or chronic care homes. Now, I do have about two decades of BASIC guitar chords, so the transition to the mandolin is most easy. I bought another mando book on Amazon about a month ago, but Amazon took it back with no charge because it was written by someone who is not a trained teacher, a gifted writer, and a master player. Bravo, Eddie Collins. I'll report on how I am doing every six months or so. This is my book. rono.
