Great resource for the moderately technically inclined. Leo Notenboom is a tribute to humanity! I follow his newsletter and books. He is one of the only resources I have found that get to the heart of the matter in the Personal Information Management (PIM) space. Almost all of the content you find is targeted at the Enterprise community. Leo focuses on us as individuals! The advice in this book (And Newsletter) is spot on for protecting yourself in this digital world. Your Personal information is just that... PERSONAL!!! Protect it using these specific tips and advice. Back it up! Secure it!!! 1 in 5 individuals experience Identity theft every year. The majority have been hacked. It is not a question of IF... It is a question of WHEN you will be hacked. Ask Leo books are written with valid information and disclaimers where he is not sure of the information. I always enjoy reading these information filled books and in this case, this book is required reading. The internet has changed tremendously since its first days and the hackers and other crooks are well prepared to cause us all problems which could be devastating to us and our families. I don't leave my doors unlocked at night anymore and it is important that we observe the same approach with the internet. Leo writes at a level that is informative, and this is what he is good at. He recognizes his audience and respects them with the information that he provides. Frankly, I believe that anyone who is concerned about safety on the internet is required to read this book and ask Leo if you have any concerns after reading.

I've been working with computers for about 30 years but I always learn something new from Leo Notenboom. He has a style of teaching that anticipates questions as you read and answers them on the spot. He drills on important issues so that they're understandable and unforgettable. The issues he takes up in this book are critical, especially in this era of cryptolocker, rootkits and other baddies out there. This book is essential reading, as is his book on backing up your computer. Highly recommended. .

Leo has covered an important and frequently overlooked topic in a succinct manner.We are often so dependent on our digital devices but too casual about the data they hold.Until disaster strikes. Then it is too late.Leo gives you a wake-up call here and then goes on to provide the solution.

An essential book for novices. Also excellent refresher for other internet users. Leo covers need-to-know items to help protect against "malware" in a straight forward easy-to-understand style. In only a few hours the reader can feel comfortable following his advice, There are a few minor mis-spellings but Leo provides "errata" data on his website which should be read by all PC users.

I hope everybody buys this! There are too many scam artists out there to make a fast buck. I went through two computers, then bought a refurbished one for $80. Now am caferul what I do and the computer is running just great!
