Tall, Plush and Sturdy
This tall cat tree allows our two cats to stretch and scratch the tree to their satisfaction. The carpeting is just thick enough to satisfy them and keep them from scratching our furniture.

Perect!!......Not Anymore
Oh, I Have To Tell You...This scratching post just arrived in a "huge" box (assembled) for Rambo's Christmas present. The box was so big, we brought it in, opened it and he immediately knew that it was for him and started scratching on it..as well as enjoying getting in and out of that huge box. It was so hilarious that could not get a video fast enough! Nice carpet, high enough for large male cat, he doesn't like the ones with sisal, so is totally enamored with this new scratching post now because it is all carpet. Thus, Mama did well, good value and highly recommend!Second Review: I just bought a replacement because the above wore out. It cost nearly $20 more and is much lighter in weight...so Rambo can easily push it over while scratching. I kept it, but was very disappointed that the seller had lowered the quality so much but then raised the price so significantly!

Short lived, but pretty good while it lasted
I've had this scratching post for about eight months, and it's already pretty torn up. I'll have to buy a new one every year, by the looks of it.My last scratching post was much bigger, one of those hidey hole boxes with carpet on the outside for scratching. It lasted about four years, so... maybe that's because the older one had a lot more surface area, thus it took my cat longer to tear it up.With that said, I'm still pretty glad I found this, because I've had a really hard time finding a decent scratching post that wasn't made of that stupid cardboard or rope. My cat won't scratch those posts, only carpet, so... it's been a struggle. This scratching post is pretty decent in build. It's tall enough that my fluffy (by which I mean slightly obese) cat can use it well. It has a large enough base to hold itself upright while she's scratching it-- albeit, the post does wiggle back and forth when she uses it. The base is not big enough for her to stand on it while scratching the post, however, I've never had to worry about it falling over. It stays upright and she doesn't seem to mind that it wiggles a little bit, so all is well. Again, she's a pretty heavy kitty, so if this post can stand upright when she's jumping on it playfully, it should be safe for any cat.All in all, I would have liked it to last a little bit longer, but perhaps that's the nature of items that are made specifically for your cat to destroy: they do wind up destroyed, sooner or later, and must be replaced. For the price, I'd say this was a pretty good buy, and considering that it was one of the only scratching posts I could find that was both made of carpet and wasn't a giant playset that costed over a hundred dollars... I'm satisfied.

Nicely Carpeted Cat Scratching Post
My cat is happy with this scratching post. It is well carpeted and durable. This scratcher stays upright when my 12 pound cat “stands up” to scratch it. I have never seen this tip. I only have one cat and this scratcher is still in good condition after one year.I had to search high and low to find a carpeted scratching post. A lot of scratching posts are wrapped with sisal which is a plant-based fiber that is usually used for rope and twine. My cat doesn’t like to scratch sisal. I imagine the reason is because sisal is tough, rigid, not soft, and there is a risk that her claws could get caught in the sisal. My opinionated felis domesticus prefers to scratch tall carpet scratchers or wide, flat cardboard scratchers.

Arrived Broken
This arrived in a HUGE box, way oversized and sloppily taped up. I knew right away I was looking at a return that was sent back out. Sure enough, it appeared the post and base had been shipped to me preassembled and the post had snapped off at the base. It was held together with about 8 small staples. We live in rural Iowa and it’s a 50 minute round trip to a UPS drop off so I'm inclined to try and fix things before requesting a return. This went back together with some epoxy and is probably stronger than new. It was also missing the cat "toy" hanging from the top; this replaced the same item we've had for over 7 years and the cats don't play with the toy anyway so no big deal. I’ve starting writing “defective” on the outside of all my returns if that’s the case; maybe that keeps them from getting sent back out, maybe not. I feel like I'm trying, anyway.

My cat loves this
My cat has only ever taken to using scratching posts made with carpet. She won’t touch the cheap cardboard ones. This was easy to put together and my cat uses it all the time. The price is a little tough to swallow though for being just a stick of carpet. I was able to buy an entire 7 foot cat tree for the same pride as this. I’m just glad my cat loves it!

Disappointed...
I bought this scratching post to replace the one I had, which was the same kind. It lasted a few years. My cat just wore it out, so we needed a new one for her. I am disappointed with the one I received for several reasons. First of all, when it was delivered, it was sitting on my doorstep without a box, just the shipping label taped to the base. On the back of the shipping label was torn brown paper. I can only assume the box tore during shipping, and so the label was torn off the box and taped to the scratching post. Secondly, the seam of the carpet around the post where it meets is clearly visible. Comparing this new post to my old post, the seam on the old post was not visible at all. Thirdly, I noticed the post wobbles back and forth a bit on the base. The bolt is tight on the bottom, so it is secured to the base tightly. It seems that the post itself does not fit in the base well. Also comparing this new one to the old one, the old one is very sturdy and does not wobble, even as worn out as it is. Overall, it seems as if this post was slapped together in five minutes by someone who didn't care about the quality. I am very disappointed in this scratching post. When it wears out, I will not be purchasing another one like this. I will buy elsewhere.

Great post -- my kitty loves it!
UPDATE OF PRODUCT REVIEW (Jan 2019):This scratching post lasted approximately a year and a half before it began shedding/falling apart regularly. I would have to vacuum around the post on a bi-weekly basis because there were bits of carpet everywhere. Before I got around to replacing the item, my cat scratched a worn-out patch and tore one of her nails completely out, which left me worrying for the next month as it grew back in. (My fault; I should have replaced the product sooner.) I have since found a better product that does not "shed" and looks like it will stand the test of time better than this did. (Search for: "Kitty City Premium Woven Sisal Carpet Scratching Post Fleece Bed Furniture, Total Height 32 Inches")_________________________________________ORIGINAL REVIEW (Oct 2016):I bought this because, quite frankly, my furniture could not take my pet's claws anymore. My cat, who is 8lbs but quite long, can stretch up this post and scratch at it without nearing the top. Because of its size, it's also good for climbing! There is a hollowed plastic dish at the top of the post that you can put a treat (or three) in, which encourages your pet to climb and also increases their attachment to the post itself. I was worried that Midna (that's my kitty's name) wouldn't be interested in this post. However, every time she scratched at it I re-enforced her good behaviour (yay! Thanks for not destroying my sofa!) by putting a treat in the dish at the top. She now uses this post 90% of the time for her scratching! My only qualm with this post is that the carpet can come out in little strings. I often find Midna picking up the remains of a string and trying to eat it (a kittenhood habit that, sadly, she never grew out of). This means I do have to hoover around the base every few days just to be sure that she won't go chowing down on carpet regularly. However, I know that most cat furniture is likely to shed (I mean, what can take being clawed at all the time without giving way a little bit) and this sheds less than some other pieces I've owned. All in all, a great bang for your buck -- if you can get your pet to use it, that is :)
