I love it!
The pictures here on Amazon are good, but they don't do this violin justice. Here in the photos, you can't really tell that there's a slight glossiness to the finish. It's really quite lovely and gives this violin an understated elegance. As for the sound, I was quite impressed. I've just barely started learning how to play, and i had been using a Violin-Shaped Object (VSO). It made violin sounds, and I'm so new, I didn't think I would be able to hear a difference in quality of sound between that VSO and this lovely new violin, but I can. And what a difference! This instrument sounds SO much better!Everything is correctly set up, and the violin is well designed (unlike my old VSO), so all my fingers can go in the correct positions to make the correct intonations (unlike my old VSO). Also, it's easier to press on these strings than it was on the old VSO. I'm not sure it it was just because of the poor design of that old lousy instrument or maybe a difference in the strings (this one has much better quality strings).... well, whatever the reason, this one is easier to use, somehow. It shipped quickly, and it was extremely well packaged. It came completely set up, so there was no worry there. The violin didn't need more than a couple twists of the fine-tuners to get it in tune for playing.I had been concerned that the bridge was leaning, but with the excellent help of Heather in customer service, she helped me see for myself that the back of the bridge was perfectly straight, and that it was just the curved nature of the beveled front that was making it look like the bridge was leaning. (My old VSO didn't look like this, so I had been unsure as to whether it was normal.)So, color me quite pleased with my Ricard Bunnel G2. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to start learning to play the violin. And I would recommend Kennedy Violins to anyone looking to purchase a violin, regardless of their level of experience.

Far superior then the other cheapies.
Great violin! This is the second violin that I have purchased through amazon after having issues with the first one which was a different brand. This violin plays like a much more expensive instrument. Beautiful sound and quality to the wood. Going to the Kennedy website and watching their product videos was exceptionally helpful when deciding which of their violins to buy. I even got a follow up call after my purchase checking to see how I like the violin. When my daughter is ready for a full sized violin, Kennedy Violins will be my first choice.

... back in 2013 as a first violin (and I sucked xD) but have been playing it ever since
I bought this back in 2013 as a first violin (and I sucked xD) but have been playing it ever since, and now I don't. The instrument did arrive with a crack in the upper tail end of the resonator box (see photo), just above the bass bar and below the shoulder rest, However, the sound quality is quite good, considering. I did not return it, in spite of this obvious defect, because it seemed to be aesthetic in nature. I have now progressed (almost two years of practice to the point of wanting to perhaps upgrade. This instrument is solid in value & comes with just about everything you'd want to get started. Practice not included ;)

Quality student violin for great price
I purchased this violin for my 11-yr-old daughter who is starting lessons & will begin middle school orchestra in the fall. I was a bit skeptical about purchasing an instrument online, but after quite a bit of research, the consistent excellent reviews about both the violin and the vendor, Kennedy Violins, as well as the price were enough to convince me to give it a try and orderd. The violin shipped quickly and was packaged well. We nervously opened the box to find a surprisingly spacious and nice case. The violin's color and finish were very appealing, rich and warm brown, without the hi-gloss, plasticky finish that many cheap, student violins often have. The bow looked good, too. After a quick tuning, the tone of this instrument did not disappoint---warm and beautiful. Couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Recently we received a courtesy phone call from Kennedy to check on how we were doing with the violin--this kind of service is a shocker! It's difficult for a beginner to produce a great tone on a violin, near impossible if the instrument itself doesn't start with great tone of it's own. Don't waste money on renting a violin, as many schools may advise-- this beautiful instrument will give your beginning violin student a great start.
