Am I missing something? Or is this really a rip-off?
My rating is based on the fact that I anticipated MUCH more out of this unit. I use it with an FT-60 and was hoping it would replace my cell phone app for gps. I was hoping that it would (somewhere) give me a way to view the route I walked along with heart rate information. If there is a way of viewing the route walked, I'm not finding it. It definitely isn't in the (very poor) documentation for the FT-60 or the G1. My FREE cell phone app (Runkeeper) shows my route on a map, and gives me 5 minute audio updates as to distance, pace, and speed. IOW, for nearly 100 bucks I got less information feedback about my walk than from a FREE cell phone app. NOT pleased at all. It's either a case of poor documentation, or a sub-standard product. I'm hoping someone tells me I'm wrong about this and provides a walk-through on how to view the route.

Does Not Work Along Chicago Lakefront
I was really excited to use this along the Chicago lakefront. I am trying to train more outside, but miss the info I get from running on a treadmill. I thought this would be a nice way to track my mileage and get a rough read on my pace. Too bad I started running at Diversey through the park (crossing to the lakefront path at Fullerton) and did not get a signal until Oak Street Beach. Even then, the unit would not communicate with my watch despite being on the proper settngs. Makes me think maybe there is something wrong with my watch too. Finally, clipping it to my shorts chaffed my hip. Total failure...going back.

Works Perfectly
I was very excited to recieve this product. It arrived in easy to open packaging. I comes with a battery which is very easy to install. As far as the setup with the FT80 that was even easier, all you have to do is turn on the G1, go to the watch and go to the settings screen and select the GPS. The full setup took five minutes and I didn't even need to look at the book. The GPS sensor itself seems very accurate. It only takes a few minutes to aquire a signal. The only real complaint I have about this product is that the armband is a little uncomfortable. Other than that its great!

It has never worked
I have never been able to get this GPS to work, despite trying it in locations around the country. I live in San Francisco and it only worked once about 1/2 way through a run. I travel a lot for work so it was important to me to get a GPS product that would let me know how far I was running for marathon training. I tried to get it to work in Alexandria, VA, Miami, FL, Austin, TX and Las Vegas. I was never able to get it to pick up a GPS signal. So today I decided to return it, but learned the return policy expired on March 23. My fault on not watching that more closely, but if someone has been able to get this to work, consistently, without standing still for 5 minutes, I'd love to hear about it.

Not pleased, retuning item
This item didn't perform as hoped. It had trouble picking up the satellites. It was somewhat large and heavy for what it provided. Only in open areas free from all buildings would it pick up a signal and then only after standing still for over 2 minutes. Not worth the effort if you ask me.

Works great with my FT80 computer
Other reviews do not speak well of this device, but my experience is great. It works as advertised and keeps distance and speed data for each workout. This is great to compare planned training to actual results and to compare week to week improvements. Highly recommended.

I don't recommend this product. Try a pedometer for the same information.
I would rather recommend a pedometer than this GPS Unit. It is expensive, It burns down batteries, it's heavy and very slow to catch satellites even with no buildings are arround. It doesn't allow you to map your run and now most smart phones with GPS can handle an app that will record much more than this. It provides not much more information than a pedometer.

Could be improved...
As foreseen: wait (without moving) two minutes to connect to the satellites, don't expect the battery to last more than 60 hours of running. But if as me you don't want to buy a new gadget and like your old polar, it's good enough...

Very nice
Works nice in any weather. I recommend this if you use a polar watch RS300, and it s recommend to use recharge battery in G1 GPSDelivery on time, well packing

Sensore GPS G1 Polar
Prodotto solido, ben costruito.
