I love using these little edible wafers in my muffin tins rather than paper liners. I grease the pans and place one oblaten in the bottom of each cup. I learned to use these while stationed in Germany in the 1980s and have used them ever since. Muffins are so tasty when I don’t have to throw away the muffin edges by peeling off the paper liners. Once you begin using these, you will never want to go back yo paper muffin liners. Be sure to measure the base of your muffin cups. 50mm fit standard muffins. Some large muffins may need the 70mm size.

What I needed
These are very pricey, but hard to come by in the US. I am originally from Germany and use these for coconut macaroons year round for my candy business. This is the brand I know from Germany and have always used. The wafers are a nice thickness, not too flimsy, but still delicate. They have a very subtle almost non existent flavor, so they will not change the flavor of your baked goods, but they will immensely enhance them in my opinion.

Better than I thought
After I had Lebkuchen from Germany I’m obsessed, but they are not cheap. I checked on YouTube for the recipe and successfully made wonderful cookies, only better the store bought because freshly baked oblaten is still soft and not paper-like. 5cm ones looked like minis, but if you mount your dough high they are perfect size!!
