4AllDeals 1GB RAM Memory Upgrade for The Dell Dimension 3100 (DDR2-533, PC2-4200)

My old Dimension 3100 series PC came with a measly 512 MB of RAM. With the increased amount of memory required to handle the ads and video that get thrown at you these days, this computer became very slow over the past year, and it eventually could not even open and play a youtube video.By adding a GB of RAM, I thought I would be tripling the memory to about 1,500 MB. Unfortunately, if you own a Dimension 3100, be aware that there are only two memory slots in your computer, and they contain two 256 MB cards (not a single 512), one of which obviously has to be removed to make room for the new Gig going in... thus I'm now running on 1,256 MB of RAM, less than I'd expected from the upgrade.That being said, my computer now has sufficient memory for the basic stuff I use my computer for. If I were doing it over, I'd upgrade with a 2GB card. But this one GB was inexpensive (only about eighteen including shipping), and by adding it I accomplished what I wanted to achieve: websites with lots of RAM demand (I was having huge problems with NHL.com, for example) are now opening in less than 5 seconds. Not lightning-fast, but good enough for me.Good marks to the seller, for sending me what I ordered, and getting it to me quickly.*********UPDATE: about 8 months later my video card died. My computer guy who replaced the card notified me that, during the same meltdown, one of my memory cards had also failed: yes, it was in fact the (supposedly) new one I'd just put in, less than a year prior. I'm downgrading my 4 star rating to 2 stars, which is generous, for a card that lasted only 8 months. One could potentially blame it on the video card dying, but the older 256 MB card survived the bad video card's demise, so I doubt that could be true. So I blame the seller for selling me a defective (or old/used) card.

Wanted to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB ram for my older desktop. Matched exactly and installed with little effort. This was a year ago and there have been no problems.

Works as good as the original dell memory, you cant go wrong and i received it within a few days

The ram supplied (1 stick) was faulty but 4alldeals replaced the bad stick speedily and now all are working great.
