32-track collection for the first major female vocal group of the rock era who defined the so-called girl group sound with soft, sweet harmonies, blending pop/rock & r&b. Ace. 1992.

Shirelles shine
I just love listening to this CD. It brings back fond memories from the time that I was in elementary school through high school and beyond.

Great Music by one of the sixties premier groups!!
This power house female vocal group does not disappoint. From Passaic New Jersey, these girls were discovered by Florence Greenberg who founded Scepter/Wand records. The girls enjoyed enormous success for several years with very little monetary gain. They fell out of favor in mid sixties when Luther Dixon, who wrote most of their hits left Sceptor and signed with Capitol records and Florence began to focus her attention on Dionne Warwick and the rest is history. This is a great collection.. these are classic recordings by an incomparable group.

good cd
this cd is 1 of the better cds of the best of the shirlles. has most of the big hits on it. good quality recordings. seems most are the original hit versions. Unlike an aparently defective CD, 16 best hits of the shirelles, this CD, it looks like the production peaple paid attention to what they were doing in tittling the track index, the index tittles, all match the songs tittles, on the CD track indacated. 1 of the things I look for in a CD, I think will be good 1. this CD I just purchased, has not let me down yet.

ESSENTIAL SHIRELLES
I agree that this an essential Shirelles collection. It contains all of their major hits and many that should have been hits. The best thing about this set is its mastering. It sounds good, many elements in the music are mixed clearly . The tracks are all in stereo. The Shirelles were the earth mamas of girl groups back in the early Sixties. They made it possible for other girl singers to have careers. If you're looking for a good Shirelles set, this is the one to get.

Possibly The Best Early 1960s American Girl Group
Update:Pleased to receive CD on time, in pristine condition. Also, happy tracks were in stereo. That added a nice touch to many a song loved so much, remembered so well.Fidelity was good, on occasion (with some instrumentation) excellent but overall, recording level a bit low, and presentation constructed, far away sounding. Still, because of recordingsโ age, probably the best available.Recommended.

Nostalgia Lives!
This CD did not disappoint! These are not some lackluster recordings made years after the artist's heyday. These songs are professionally remastered recordings of the originals. All of the hits are here. However, I especially enjoyed the lesser known stylings by this talented group. This re-confirmed my belief; "The Shirelles" is the premier girl group of 1960's rock and roll.

what a voice
The Shirelles stand out as one of the best female groups of all time. The combination of Shirley Owens' lead vocals with the rest of the group produce some of the best sounds ever. Although some of the songs seem over-produced, the vocals stand above all. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and Tonight's The Night are just two of the songs which will last forever. Just put the CD on, sit back and enjoy the music and all the memories that come flooding back.

Great recordings with great sound
With 'Mama Said' being released by Amy Winehouse's god daughter Dionne Bromfield and being featured on Strictly Come Dancing, I decided to take a listen to the Shirelle's version. This prompted me to buy this album. As with any Ace product the quality of recording is well - Ace! Most people will know 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' but may not realise how many good records were recorded by the Shirelles. Whether you are taking a trip down memory lane or are new to the Shirelles' work, I can strongly recommend this album as a really good listen. The Shirelles show modern girl groups what good singing is really about.
