As an electronics engineer I found the discussion of electronics a bit useless.

Worth it
Information is dated but still great for theory. If you're sailing on older ships it covers less modern strategies for electrical plant.

A bit dated but what you need to get your tickets
This book is well out of date with what you need for working on a ship but it is has pretty much all you need to get through Chiefs and Seconds tickets as the syllabus is still years behind reality. Used in conjunction with Hall's Practical Marine Electrical Knowledge you should manage to pick up enough to get you through all exams.
