Excellent Phone at a Very Good Price
I give this product 5 stars however, I would like to give two comments which just shave the five stars. The set up should have been straightforward. There is a computerised voice to tutor one in the installation. However, when I tried to enter text (e.g. the Wi-Fi password) the keyboard popped up but I could not enter any text. After much frustration I realised that to enter text I has to press a key three times (one long and two short). Near the end of the setup one screen seemed to freeze as I could not get it to move. Again after must frustration I realised that to move the screen needed a two finger action (in a manner of speaking). My other gripe is the ringtones or rather lack of them. Within Settings the ringtone can be changed. However, the only ringtone available was the one already installed. Do these phones leave the factory with a random ringtone or are they all the same?Having got these points out of the way, this is an excellent phone. The battery lasts me about two days. Charging from empty takes about one and a half hours. This is the default setting of fast charge and according to Google does not reduce the battery’s life. All actions on the phone are fast e.g. searching the internet and opening videos. The storage capacity of 64GB appears to be adequate Bear in mind that about a quarter of this is occupied by the operating system. However, I would suggest that use of an SD card is essential. I live in a poor phone reception area and my last phone was near unusable to make calls. This one gives excellent reception. Before buying this phone I researched professional sites for reviews. The considered opinion was that the phone was adequate. I beg to differ. I have never used an expensive phone but fail to see what one could do better than the A40. I believe that the price is astonishingly good. Why pay more?Yes, as people have said the phone was originally for the European market. However, this is stated on the box and the only “foreign” bit was the basic set up instructions which were in Slovak (I think). Do not let this put you off.

Replacement.
Bought as an exact replacement.Happy with it.Arrived plastic sealed in its box.Curiously, when I opened the box & removed the phone the rear of the case was dirty & I had to clean it. Not scratched tho.I'll leave you to make up your own minds about that.

Good phone overall, good size, will buy again, camera is the only thing I am not impressed with!
I bought this phone as it was cheap and it was the only A series phone with a super amoled display and of a decent size so that I can hold it in one hand. I would have paid more if they had a better specs in a smaller phone but it seems these days no one wants to use normal sized phones anymore.I have had a chance to use this phone for 3 months now and I am very happy with it. It has a good battery life (around 50% left by the end of the day), screen as its Samsung amoled it's very good. The fingerprint recognition is good, all other phone functions I.e. call volume, clarity are good too and no issues with that.I had a slight issue with the proximity sensor for a while which seems to have been off all along. I had to watch a you tube video to learn how to turn it on - a little strange that it was off?The reason i have given it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the camera (the only gripe I have about this phone). I am not talking about the front facing camera (I barely use that) but the normal rear facing one. I am slightly dissapointed with the HDR features and the indoor photo quality. The camera seems to over process images, often leading to a strange margins around the subjects in low light settings (which living in the UK it's all the time). Indoor photos also come out very blurry using standard mode (not tweaking the professional functions). Colour reproduction is also below par and no idea why the wide angle lens ruins the image quality so much to the point that it's not even worth having to be honest. Then again it's a £190 phone and offers everything else you need so I am happy with the compromise and would still buy again. I would have paid £50 more for a better camera. I came from samsung s6, its camera was brilliant for such an old phone now.

Great phone for the price
Bought this about a month ago so waited to do this review after getting used to it. Bought from a seller [only branded] new for a great price, decided to give up the iphone that was getting old and annoying.Came in the original samsung box with all accessories including UK charger. An Italian import with italian literature. No problem setting the phone up with English language. Phone updated to Android 9 and Samsung One UI upon set up. Had to delete or deactivate various bits of customisation put in by Samsung for the Italian market as well as some of the samsung bloatware we have no need for.Runs fast and smooth, lightweight, not too big, loads of memory, great screen visible nearly up to the edge, surprisingly good sound from the speaker too.Very happy with it. Why pay more?

Súper Quality / product
Product arrived in original case and except for a minor scratch on the back (mentioned on the product description) was brand new. Battery life, which is always a concern when you buy used phones is great. I've been using the phone for a few months with no problems at all.Now in regards to the a40 itself, I love it. Quality/value ratio is probably optimal. The design is absolutely amazing. Its light and thin. It made me hate picking up the iPhone xr that I I'm given for work.Pros: all features of flagship phones for less than £200 (including face recognition)Only con I find is that screen is too sensitive so you get many accidental touches.
