Definitely for those who are familiar with his work.
I would be lying if I said I didn't buy the book base on the cover shot. Until now I have only heard of Daido's work and seen only some of his more famous shots in exhibitions in Japan and here at home here in Malaysia. So I decided to buy a few books of his work to see what he is really about. While light on text, but this is ONE BIG BOOK! This is basically a huge collection of the contact sheets of most the shots Daido has ever taken, I would be scared at the thought if they ever made one with ALL the shots ever taken (probably would be thicker than a dictionary). It allows people to see pass all the mysticism that surrounds Daido's work, and instead peer into his work that shows like us, he too doesn't really have some grand final scheme or ultimately plan for his work and just captures what he see along his way. This book is definitely not for the newbie or beginner unless they have a passion for Daido's work less you cannot appreciate the selection of contact sheets. This is certainly not a book to complete in one sheeting nor is it something that is set aside once completed as those who find his work intriguing will always find themselves drawn back to this book and try to find some sort of path or pattern implied by the photos. It spans from his beginnings in photography to as far as he has allowed it (I can't really tell until what period does his photos go as most of them are rather timeless to me in a sense with no way to distinguishes a particular era).

the best!
this rating its because the book its very good and The book breaks new ground by putting the photos in black and white using the negative as the presenting. The saturation of whites also innovates in approach.
