I think it’s legit
I’ve been looking for Dirt since I used up my first canister of it about 10 years ago. It was the best hair product I ever used. A perfect balance: not too greasy, but good hold. Just as advertised it makes your hair look like the 2nd day you had product in, in that sweet spot where it looks coolest, but unpretentious.I was worried from recent reviews that this might be a knockoff, but I think it’s legit. After unboxing and opening the lid, it smells EXACTLY like the Dirt I had back in the day.I honestly can’t remember if the texture is exactly the same, but it seems to work well on my hair.I’m wondering if people aren’t ‘emulsifying’. You gotta rub it vigorously in between your hands, then spread it thru your hair.Good times.Anyway, I think it’s real.

It's truley the best hair product I've ever used!
I have been cursed with hair care products. It seems like every single product I've ever used gets discontinued at some point. I had been using CVS's Cristophe fiber paste for years and it seems like CVS stopped carrying it. So I was on the hunt for a similar product and came across many losers. Finally I found DIRT!! It's better than Cristophe and nothing else comes close to it. No grease, nothing messy and a good hold. I use hairspray in conjuntion with dirt to keep the style in place. Smells good, as other reviews say and does what it should do without any white spots at the end of the day. Washes out just fine. A Truley great product!!

This stuff is magical!
I've used this product from the beginning of it's product roll-out (watched Bravo's show "Blow Out") and love it. I have short, very thick hair and apply it while my hair is still damp and scrunch it into shape. I haven't used a hairdryer or curling iron in YEARS. It gives definition and boost to the "lazy" curls I have. It's not greasy like other clay products. If I need to freshen up, I just wet my hands, scrunch , and go. I will say that it's important to find the right amount for your hair, too much of anything isn't a good thing. I get a lot of compliments on my hair and Dirt paste has a lot to do with that.About a year ago, it seemed to have disappeared from availability so I had to look for an alternative. Nothing else could do the job. I never gave up on looking for it and now it's back! I order/hoard 2 large jars about every other payday "just in case". Yes, it is a little pricey but so is buying 10 different brands trying to get the same effect.

Works great, smells absolutely divine
I've been looking for a product that is capable of holding my hair in place, without leaving a shiny/gelled look to it [as you would get with mouse/gel/hair-spray], and decided to try out this product after it was recommended to me by a friend.I am very glad that I did.Just for a bit of reference, my hair is REALLY thick, and the type that gets "bigger" instead of "longer". It's rather wavy, and I don't like to do much to it other than kinda brush the front over a little bit, and keep strays from sticking up.I apply a little dab of this by scooping up just a bit with my finger, lathering it in my palm until it has warmed up a bit, and apply it to my [dry] hair in the areas I want to "control". I then use a brush to get all the frizzy parts to lie down, and use my hands to get the shape I want out of the front, and ta-da, that's it.The ONLY downside I can think of for this, is that it smells so good, that I often end up messing up my own hair while sliding my hand through it, just to smell it.

Decent product apart from its atrociously overpowering and nauseating scent.
Being a health-minded person, I was on a hunt for a pthalate-free hair gel on-par with American Crew's Fiber hair gel (or paste, whatever). I came across this product as an alternative and it sounded great.Having received it, however, I now have more more clarity surrounding the purchase. The product offered good hold and a decent texture, but the smell was overpowering. And I don't mean to imply that the smell was simply strong, but rather that it was so overpowering that, weeks later, my car still reeks of this stuff after having used it just once. I am not joking nor exaggerating when I say that wearing this product all day gave me a terrible headache. I put it in my hair in the morning before work, assuming that the smell would dissipate, and wore it a full 8 hours before I had to wash it out. It took multiple washes before I felt like the smell was dissipated enough to tolerate, and of course the smell rubbed off on my towels (which I only used to dry my hair post-washing).I'm not sure what compelled The Jonathan to approve of a hair product that smells so terribly overpowering, but the results are definitely not bangin'.Unless you enjoy scent-induced migraines and the judging glances of friends and strangers alike, I recommend you AVOID this product.

Great hold and matte, and nice scent.
I really like this product. Having been a long time user of American Crew because of its hold, finish and smell, I was a little hesitant in changing it. I got it as a trial from a special Groupon deal, and at first was turned off by the dry, cake paste feel. The smell was really different, and it took getting used to although I really like it now as it is calming and fades quickly after the first half hour. It only take a little that I put in my damp (after shower) and short-cut hair, and I can give my hair a quick tousled look within 60 seconds. And the best part is that it stays like all day, even with a hat (I wear hats during the winter). I now keep a stock supply so as to avoid running out of it.

It's OK
I like it but it hasn't done anything impressive for my hair. Perhaps overrated and overpriced. Probably wouldn't buy again but based on how little is needed for each use, I may never get through the jar so that's a positive.
