How can anyone dislike Dr. Seuss?
It's so interesting and fun to see Seuss's work before becoming an author of children's books! My own last book is about the timeless messages in Dr. Seuss. It's an adult book about Seuss's 60 plus books. The title is "Why Do We all Love Dr. Seuss"-- available on Amazon or anywhere. I'm finding similar timeless messages in his cartoons as well as a sort of introduction to Seuss's love of cats.I did not realize that the book is in black and white, but I also didn't realize that this book is packed with LOTS of fascinating cartoons. The book is perfect for any Dr. Seuss lover, which should be everybody!

Consistently Funny
I have loved Dr. Seuss ever since I read his books to my children. I enjoyed them as much or more than they did. This one is a little different, because it's written for the grown-ups who enjoyed Dr. Seuss as children. I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter who read Dr. Seuss to my great-granddaughter before she was able to read on her own. She was delighted with the book and loved the "historical" humor.

Awesome work Seuss did for magazines. Same as The Tough Coughs As He Plows The Dough
This is the same exact book as The Tough Coughs As He Plows The Dough. It's paper back. I just put on the shelf and read my old used copy I bought with the original title. Not meant for kids. Awesome old work he did for magazines.

so I was very disappointed when I started reading and realized that it was ...
I collect everything written by or about Dr. Seuss, so I was very disappointed when I started reading and realized that it was exactly the same as The Tough Coughs as he Ploughs the Dough...with a new name! Not fair!!!

Seuss and his early development
Five stars because of the interest in early TSG and how nicely formatted this book is. It includes quite interesting things though the humor is targeted at an audience that is really quite passe compared to us. So this book is more interesting from a historical point of view regarding the past of the great children's author. So, we hopefully all (practically all) grew up or rather had our children grow up with us reading them Hop on Pop or Green Eggs and Ham or even the Better Butter Battle Book, and maybe wondered how the heck did he come up with all this crazy stuff. Well, this book may not really be able to answer that but it does show a gradual use of the same sort of characters and does through the essay of the book explain the milieu in which TSG evolved his humor and artistry. So that is interesting.
