A Girl's Life Online

The positives of this book is that it really opens a parent's eyes to how easily kids get swept up online
This is a really important topic, one that hits close to home which is why I ordered it. The positives of this book is that it really opens a parent's eyes to how easily kids get swept up online. What Tarbox was doing in 1998 AOL chat rooms is what 2015 kids are doing on Instagram, Snapchat, KIK, and more. And it's even easier for kids today to interact with strangers. This book is an important cautionary tale to not leave your kids to their own devices with online anything. The negative side of this book -- I don't think it was very well written. The voice wasn't as mature or insightful as I expected. I give the author a little leeway since I believe she was only 18 or so when she wrote this. But she ended this book with fantastic insight into "a girl's life online" and parents really need to pay attention.

I would highly recommend for anyone with teenagers and access to the internet
I would highly recommend for anyone with teenagers and access to the internet. This can happen today maybe not in a chat room since I don't think anyone uses them much anymore however there are so many other alternatives to speaking with strangers via technology that this book is still very relevant. I read it and had my daughters read it, recommended to the high school that it should be added to the independant reading list too! I've recommended it to all the parents I know with teenage daughters as well! Glad Katherine took the time to share her story.

Must read!
I am an 8th grade teacher, this book relates to each and every one. I highly suggest that all teen girls and boys read this. The book starts slow, but it's only to give information about Katie's life before. She's a great girl and this can happen to anyone her age. Glad that she shared her story!

Book
Great book. My daughter had to order this for a college class. I was bored and decided to read it as well. It was easy to read and was a fast read too. Tragic story however.

Very plain and boring hard to stay captured not my kind of story. I understand the lesson behind the writing but does not capture the reader

Very insightful
I loved this book and think that every parent, preteen and teenage person online should read it. It was well written and gives you insight into what she was thinking and feeling in her world around her. Highly recommended and well written.

Nice book
The book called “A girl’s life online” is really interesting. It teaches people a lot of how a girl thinks and how she feels. It also teach you not to believe in people that you meet in the internet. I think that what happened to 13 year old Katie Tarbox with 23 year old Mark was because she had a bad relationship with her mother, also because her father left her when she was a little girl. This was due to the fact that she was missing her father’s figure, that might be a reason why Katie would date a 23 year old guy. At the beginning Katie enjoy been in the swimming team but after the swimming team stress her out when it was just about winning. I think all the stress she had and the bad relationship between her parents make her do all does bad stuff.
