Used these to replace push buttons on original keys without reprogrammingThe push buttons on both of the keys for my 2012 S60 were worn out, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to use them to unlock and lock the car. Astonishingly my Volvo dealer insisted that the outer case of the key fob could not be replaced. They stated that it was necessary to purchase new keys at over $150 each, and to pay just as much more per key to have the new ones programmed to start and lock/ unlock the car. I decided that I should be able to purchase generic replacement keys and use just the front panel button assembly for my existing keys. I did not want to risk using any of the other parts from the replacement key. I found a Youtube video that showed exactly how to open the keys, dissemble them, replace parts, and reassemble.I chose the replacement key from KeylessOptions on Amazon because it looked almost identical to my original keys, and they were priced unbelievably low compared to those from Volvo.I am very happy to say that each component of the replacement key fit precisely into the original key, and that my old keys now work and look like new!I cannot recommend the KeylessOptions key for reprogramming to completely replace an original key, since I myself did not use it for that. However, based on the quality and precision of the components I would expect that the odds are high that it would work fine.5 Stars

This "Volvo" key mechanism cannot be programmed by the car owner.And locksmiths cannot program it.Apparently, Volvo has "rolling codes" which change constantly.Therefore, only a Volvo dealer can program it. But they will not do so because it is not a Volvo product.So. Catch 22--- it's programmable but you cant get it programmed.Therefore useless.I am trying (so far unsuccessfully) to get a refund.

If I would have gone through the Volvo dealership it was going to cost me between $550-$650 per key. Instead it cost me the cost of the two keys plus $270. Any future keys $50 per key to be programmed and cut. This is in San Francisco, California. I live in Mill Valley but most places that I called advised me that no one could cut the volvo keys. I found a place called The Garage in San Francisco and they charged me $70 more than the originally quoted $200 because they had to purchase some kind of computer upgrade for my model car.Do not just call one place. I probably called around ten places before I found this place. These keys can be programmed you just have to be persistent in finding a place that can do this.All my keys work great.

I initially had some difficulty getting anybody to program this key to my Volvo S80. you will need to find someone very competent when doing these key programming and patient to get these to work. It took an independent shop 2 hours to get this key to work with my car.

These keys are very a high-quality product. Really nice, too. A locksmith was able to program them without any problems. Definitely would recommend them.

Good replacement for original. But the programming (and cutting of the backup key, which I skipped) is very expensive; check with your local Volvo mechanic.

Product does not work. The chip to start the car is programmable but the circuit board is half missing. The components to open the locks or trunk are not there. Do not buy
