TRIGGERPOINT Performance Therapy Grid Foam Roller with Free Online Instructional Videos, Original (13-inch), Orange

This is one of four foam rollers I bought. I have the black Rumble Roller extra firm, NewCell Integrate Foam Roller, and Trigger Point Therapy both the orange and black x-tra firm. I don't own but have also tried the blue Rumble Roller at my fitness center. This review is a comparison of these various rollers. Each of my four rollers has its own purpose. The Rumble Rollers are really good for deep tissue at a single spot. The black extra firm Rumble Roller is really hard and aggressive, while the blue one is softer but because of how "pointy" the roller is, the blue Rumble Roller doesn't feel much softer when I'm actually using it. In comparison the Trigger Point Therapy is much better as an all purpose roller to roll out the fascia. The various parts of the grid do make a difference. With the Trigger Point Therapy rollers, the black extra firm has very little give while the orange one is noticeably soft....and that orange one is my least favorite and least used roller, but I bought it since it was an Amazon Lightning Deal and I read in a fitness magazine that deemed the softer rollers more effective because the muscles don't tense up as with the firmer rollers. This is definitely true since this orange TP Therapy roller is the only roller I can handle when my IT band and other parts of my legs get really tender. My final roller is the NewCell foam roller which is a cross between all the other three I have and is the best for rolling out my back due to its shape, but I can also use it to target certain spots though not as effective as the Rumble Rollers. These various rollers have all helped to address a lot of tension and tightness in my shoulders, back, hips, and legs. I started using them at my fitness center and as I realized how beneficial they were, I bought and added each one by one. Considering that I no longer need to pay a therapist to massage and how I can run with less pain, the money I spent seems well worth it. Most importantly, it wasn't until I began using these rollers regularly that I finally resolved my plantar fasciitis I had in both feet for several years. Just to be clear, if you want a firm roller with some give, the orange roller is a great roller. If you don't want a roller with noticeable give, buy the black xtra firm roller. If you want a really aggressive spot roller, get the Rumble Roller.

I really like this massage roller -- the hard plastic base keeps its shape and the top layer of foam has just the right amount of give to make it comfortable against my body. My son introduced this to me when I visited him while I was having lower back pain. I used it to roll all along my back from bottom to top and /crack/, I felt immediate relief in my lower back! It also reduced the tenseness in my upper back. When I got home I bought one for my self right away! Now I use it every day, sometimes twice a day! I have tried harder, smaller-diameter rollers and found them very uncomfortable and ineffective compared to this one.

A physical therapist recommended buying a foam roller when I complained of stiffness and back tightness. In all honesty, I imagined this would be on of those gadgets that are sold on infomercials that would be a waste of money and soon be gathering dust under the bed. My skepticism couldn't have been more mistaken. There's evidently a whole science of trigger points in the body that when massaged firmly, produce immediate therapeutic results. I don't know the biology involved, but all I know it that using this roller even just for a few minutes is unbelievably relaxing and calming. I primarily just use it for my back especially after a long day at work. It usually produces the reassuring "pop" sounds in my vertebra that seem to relieve pressure. Just a few passes over it lying on my back also massages the muscles from the neck to the lower back. Alternately, it has a muscle relaxing effect also on the buttox with even just a minute of rolling over it with your body weight. The same for the thighs and calves. Maybe i sound like an infomercial shill here, but this is probably the single fastest and most effective way to relieve stress almost instantly, short of having a personal masseuse available at a moment's notice. The roller is a very firm foam covered with a vinyl-like surface. Some rollers have deeper more severe ridges for a deeper massage, and I did sample those but for me this design seems ideal. I travel regularly, and have even sacrificed precious suitcase space to take this along to use in my hotel room at the end of a cramped and stressful flight. Forgive my manic raving, but I'd give this 10 stars if possible!

I really like this product and it has helped me with back relief. Im 5' 7'' and 180 lbs. This works good for me but I would like it if it was a little longer. I should have got the next size up for using with my back. Product still works great. Its easy to use, durable and will last a lifetime, perfect size round and stiffness to help roll on for the back. Easy to store and easy to use. It really does give you instant relief from back soreness.

I know foam rolling is all the rage but I was skeptical about the plain foam rollers. Not to mention how expensive they are for something that looks likes a pool toy. I was really impressed with this though. It is firm enough to lay on and roll without any issue. And after several months of use by both my husband and I, it is still holding up like I just bought it. If you're like me and hold your stress in your back and shoulders, this is great for working it out. I used to see a massage therapist monthly and haven't seen one since I bought this. The nubs really help to work out knots. I bought the 13" which is nice although I think I would supplement it with either the longer one or purchase one as a second because depending on where you need to use it, it would be nice to have something that ran the entire length of my back rather than falling off the edge. Overall though, this gets plenty of use and I highly recommend it. Do be aware though that the nubs can break small blood vessels from use which can look ugly. (Especially if you're wearing a backless dress or something.)
