Fabulous jacket
I've been looking everywhere for a jacket I can use for cycling and as a general rain jacket. I'm used to wearing a baggy men's rain jacket, but I wanted something a little bit more fitted and flattering. Most of the jackets I found in my price range were hot pink or pastel colors (which don't look right on me) or black (which I love, but I don't want to be a complete bike ninja when I ride at night). So, I was excited ti find this jacket!Just got it yesterday, and so far I love it--the finish is more on the soft/woven/matte side, rather than crinkly/shiny, it's lightweight, and has a lot of attention to detail (mesh lining inside, lots of pockets, drawstring adjustments everywhere, and nice rubberized tabs on the cuff velcro and toggles). It fits very well--I'm normally either an L or an XL in women's tops/jackets, and the XL is comfortably roomy but still shapely.I broke this in last night on a rainy, cool-ish 26 mile ride. It kept me completely dry, and it seemed to breathe just fine--I didn't feel like I was boiling myself inside a plastic bag. I zipped it all the way up at the beginning, which kept me comfortably warm--after I got going I zipped it down to mid-chest, which cooled me right down. I reached back a few times to check on whether it was riding up, since I'm so used to wearing a giant baggy raincoat...but it is longer in the back and stayed perfectly in place the whole ride.A special note goes to the hood. It does not zip into the collar like some jackets, so I was wondering how it would behave riding at speed/downhill. My old hood would sometimes billow behind me like a balloon. But in addition to the adjustable toggles around the hood, this hood has an inner seam of elastic bisecting it horizontally across the hood's back--and it makes a huge difference. I had my helmet on and my hood down, and the elastic kept the hood compactly in place at the back of my neck--I wouldn't have even noticed it back there if I hadn't been so pleasantly surprised at the lack of the aforementioned billowing balloon. The elastic also lets the hood stretch to fit over my helmet, although I never ride that way, so I didn't try it on-bike. And, it seems to mold the hood to my head when I'm sans helmet, which is great--I imagine that, along with the nice, padded built-in hood visor, will come in handy when I'm off-bike using this as a standard rain jacket. It would probably be great for running or hiking in the rain, actually.

This really is ALL weather
I was looking for a windbreaker to wear year round where I could layer as much as I needed underneath, and not feel like I was packed into my jacket. I liked the look and style of this and wanted a jacket with lining and one that wouldn't "sweat" on the inside after a brisk walk. This one fits the bill. I walk the dog every day, rain or shine and we've had just about every kind of weather this last week--unusually cold, unusually warm AND rainy weather so I've gotten to try it in all.. It repels rain wonderfully, and in cold windy weather no wind gets through AND it's breathable. In the previous reviews, I saw that people thought it ran small, so put on all my layers that I normally wear in the coldest weather (wool sweater, fleece layer, and underlayers), and measured myself, and used that measurement with the size chart and ended up buying an extra large. With no layers, I'm normally a size small to medium. So when I got the jacket, it fits true to size given the measurements in the chart. It has two side pockets and a breast pocket, all are zippered, and the overall quality is great. I was also concerned with the length of the sleeves given the size I bought to accommodate the layers and my true size, and with the wrist adjustments it's not a problem at all....I don't feel like I've got sleeves down to my knees.

Small. Super super small.
No idea how this could be so erroneously sized, but it was INCREDIBLY small. Not even like "oh, I'm a bit too busty for this, what a shame" but more like "well, I suppose if I wanted to shield my left thigh from the elements this may fit over it?" I ordered this much larger than I thought necessary as I wanted something oversized I could throw on over any outfit after returning from work to take the dog out when rainy. It wasn't even large enough for me to have a Tommy Boy Fat-Guy-In-A-Little-Coat fashion show, just no, absolutely not even fitting over my head. That said I was able to return this without issue. Not for free mind you, but I did get it returned and was refunded fairly expediently.

No more muffin top, wale tale, or flap up- great for biking in PDX
So I did have to size up a LOT getting this jacket (I got the 3XL and I'm a 14/16 and 38C usually wearing a size XL in women's coats, shirts, etc) but omg I love this coat. I needed something that would go just past the hip so when I lean forward on a bike I dont have that gap. I had gotten another coat from REI that was supposed to do this but was just a flap so when I got going at any sort of speed it would flip up. GRR. This is perfect. I don't feel like I'm wearing a trash bag, it has nice pockets and lining, hood is a GREAT design and it is long. Amazing windbreaker too. It is pretty flattering, I guess, because I've gotten lots of compliments on it and people asking where I got it.Based on other people's reviews, I did buy a can of weather proofing and gave it a once over. (I used the can to freshen up a lot of stuff around the house too like my panniers on my bike, some shoes, etc) I DO live in PDX and I bike 11.5 miles one way to work, otherwise you don't need this unless you like in places like Seattle and Portland where it can really dump rain. I've put my cell phone and other stuff in it and not had any issues. For the price and features, buying the can of spray on weather proofing was no big deal for me.My only compliant? Wish it came in more colors! I like to be more high vis than GREEN in Portland.

Super product!
Let me just say I LOVE this coat. It is perfect for what I need it for on my bike commutes. It does indeed run small. I usually wear a large to sometimes an XL in coats because I like a little room for a sweater or whatever. Based on other reviews, I went for the gusto and bought the 4x which was too, too big. I exchanged it for the 3x, which is pretty much perfect! It is still a bit oversized but I can comfortably wear a sweatshirt underneath if need be and still move around. I love the velcro on the sleeves and the hood is nice and deep although I'm not sure it will fit over my helmet. I will get a lot of wear out of this!
