be warned about the rear bushing
Good quality parts Installed successfully on my '03 WRX, but the distance between the bolt holes in the rear bushing is a tad shy making it VERY difficult to install. I almost stripped the threads in the car's body beyond repair and after they were fixed i had to use a pry bar to apply pressure to socket cap bolt thereby stretching the urethane of the rear bushing until i could line up the threads and run the bolt home. It probably took me two or three hours just to mount that one bushing! The front fit flawless and i'm sure they'll last a long time now that everything's buttoned up, but holy crap that rear one wore me out!

Half the Price + Same quality +Customer Service = BUY THESE BUSHINGS
First and foremost I would like to thank Prothane for working with me. I'm a little embarrassed to write this review, but I am personally obligated to because I am grateful for the fantastic customer service I've received from Prothane.I'm not sure if you read a review where the customer said that he purchased these bushings not realizing that he had already upgraded his bushings, but I did prior to purchasing this item. After reading that post I thought to myself, "how is that possible?" Well... let me tell you lol.I purchased the Kart Boy Short Shifter when I purchased my 2006 WRX and I clearly remember changing the short shifter, but not the bushings because my mechanic friend had installed them so quickly. Long story short, when I received these bushings from Prothane I immediately jacked up my car, unbolted the six bolts to the transmission brace (didn't need a jack because the transmission didn't drop more than a 1/2"), disconnected the O2 sensor (not necessary, but makes this upgrade easier by keeping the wires out of the way), used a 12mm wrench to unbolt the front bushings and oddly had to use a 13mm to unbolt the rear bushing. The process is easy, but the best advice I could give you if you are contemplating doing this upgrade is: try to get as much clearance under the car if you don't have a lift. My second piece of advice is: be careful when installing the rear bushing because it's very easy to cross thread if you're not careful. (I almost guaranty that the people who complained about not being able to install these cross threaded the rear bolts)My last piece of advice to you is buy these bushings. Although I didn't use them, compared to the Kart Boy bushings that were on my vehicle, the only differences was the color and the price. These bushings are half the price of the Kart Boy bushings and as I held both sets in my hand it felt like the Prothane ones were of better quality.I hope this helps your decision making. Thanks again Prothane!

Mine rear bushing required some trimming
Not sure if anyone else had the problem, but the shape of the top of the rear shifter stay bushing wouldn't allow me to align the bolts back. Even shoving up on the thing with a lot of force after aligning one side didn't give me the room I needed to put the bolts in straight. I ended up taking a dremel to the top section and sanding it down about 1/4" to be able to fit it. After that it fit perfectly and everything went back together well. The results, when paired with the shift linkage swap, made all of the difference in the world and putting the shorter shifter from the 2.5RS in my 99 Forester was a good idea since it was already out. These poly bushings were only one component in everything I changed out, but they're stiff and the shifter feels amazing! For anyone also doing your shift linkage joint at the same time:I ended up supporting the transmission with a 2x4 piece on the jack and removing the transmission mount cross-member to make access to the roll pin easier. Punch out the center roll pin first and then do the outer one. This made all the difference in getting it out. After I replaced it with a nut and bolt in case I ever have to do this again.

Not bad
Not too bad. Still needed several other bushings to get the shifter into spec. The larger rear bushing was a bit difficult to install.

Perfect
Pretty sure these come out of the same factory that all the others come from...I didn't realize that the previous owner had already done Kartboi bushings, so when I pulled out the old ones I was a little skeptical that I'd feel any difference. These are a little stiffer than KB, so I do notice shifts being a little more definitive.BUT, the cost difference in these vs so many other brands has made me a happy Prothane customer and I'll be sticking with their products for the foreseeable future.

Refresh your gear shift experience!
This is a must install on your manual transmission Subaru. I installed this set on a 2002 Impreza TS Wagon and it tightened up the shifting significantly. I suggest this be installed with OEM shifter linkage which I also got here on Amazon.

My 02 WRX is like a new car!
I have a 02 WRX (original owner, car has 142,000 miles on it) with a worn shifter. Over the years it's gotten progressively worse to where crisp shifts are a thing of the past. After carefully jacking up the car (using plenty of backup jacks) i remove the old shifter and bushings and replaced them with this one. Man! it made the car like new! The old ones were not as bad as some you see in repair videos, but what little play they had contributed to a large amount of shifter wobble. Removing the sifter was not bad, the worse part was getting under the car and removing/replacing the roll pin. However with that issue, it only took me about 4 hours from start to finish (I tool time to sand and repaint the shifter rod since it was looking corroded). Quality of this bushing is excellent and well worth the price.
