IGLOO FR551 5.5 Cubic Feet Side by Side 2 Door Refrigerator Freezer, Stainless Steel

I bought this refigerator/freezer for my office in Feb. and I had no problems with it. In April I took a week off and one of my coworkers put some items in it and thought they had closed the door, but they hadn't. I came back to a refigerator that had a sheet of ice on the back wall and a freezer that was literally a block of ice. I thought "well there goes my refer" put out towels and let it defrost overnight. Good thing there is no carpeting in my office because the floor was a sodden mess. After I cleaned up I plugged it back in expecting the motor to be noisy or not work at all. The refer was so quiet i had to check a couple of times to make sure it was running. It has run fine since then. It is still very quiet and it cools well. I know a lot of bad reviews have been written about this product, but if I needed another I would buy it. 2 helpful hints, like any small refigerator you can't be opening this thing every 5 minutes, number 2 is make sure the door is tightly closed, I'm pleased but surprised that the refigerator survived

This refrigerator looks nice, but it is complete junk. I have had it for seven months and it died yesterday. The lights still work inside, but the refrigeration unit doesn't engage at all. Not only do I now have a useless, heavy appliance to discard, but I lost probably $80 worth of food. I plan to call Curtis International with regard to the warranty, but based upon other reviews I am not hopeful.

I needed a refrigerator for a small space. This one offers more storage without taking up a lot of room. It also has a good counter top.

Update, the unit is now almost 2years old. Still works fine but the center post between doors is corroded and rusting. The unit was OK overall but I wouldn't purchase again.Overall an okay unit but one thing to keep in mind. There is no room in the fridge for a half or full gallon of milk or two liter bottle unless you remove a shelf. Major drawback in my opinion. If I had known I wouldn't have purchased.

Looks nice. But trouble regulating temp. When freezer is cold enough, back of refrigerator freezes food.

This double door refrigerator freezer is a dream. No problems with it whatsoever. Both sides hold an amazing amount of food. I don't know what these complaints are about. The initial motor smell is normal and goes away quickly. I don't think these malcontents take time to read the instruction manual before starting up the unit. It angers me that these kind of people malign excellent products and services that are reasonably priced. Please read the instruction manual on this unit.You are supposed to let it sit for 2 hours after delivery to allow it to settle before plugging it in. The malfunctions really are due to failing to do this and not knowing how to reset the thermostat in case of a malfunction.This Igloo unit is excellent.

Purchased this unit for our office. It did not work. Came on for a few seconds, then would shut off. Also had a bad burnt odor and noise during the few seconds it was working.Returned the unit and got a second one. Same thing...did not work.It was such a hassle un-packaging the unit only to be disappointed when it didn't work! Even more of a hassle to repackage for return.I will not be ordering a 3rd replacement! Refund only this time!

Great refrigerator. I'm in college and I needed my own fridge because people kept on raiding the community fridge. It's energy efficient 41$ a year & it runs super quiet. It gets cold rather quickly then shuts down. Perfect for being in the bedroom. I'm a lite sleeper and I can't even hear it running at night. In closing: it was a great investment at 350$. I don't need a ton of space for food like a full size fridge. I'm like to be more efficient, that's what this fridge is efficient. Less space to cool equals less run time. Perfect match for my needs.
