I expected that it would be sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is not overly sweet, which I appreciate. I've recently started cooking more Mediterranean dishes and this is a must in many dishes. It adds a vibrant, bright, and slightly tart flavor to the dishes. On its own, it kind of reminds me of an unsweetened cherry juice, except this is a syrup and is just like pomegranate tastes with its pop of tart and sweet flavor. The bottle I got was small (10oz), since it was my first time using pomegranate molasses. Next time I might go up a size so I don't run out so quick.Note: 9V battery is for size comparison and is not included.
