The base to water container fit is horrible. I have had the base separate several times when I was trying to reattach it after filling. The threads on the base are not big enough to correctly engage the threads on the water container. I tried to use one of the water containers I had for another (much more well known) brand that you can get at your local feed store, and found out the thread is different on this brand. Very disappointed in this product overall, and I cannot recommend anything from M.Z.A. because of this. Do yourself a favor, and get the Little Giant brand instead even if it is harder to find or costs more.

The plastic is too soft and the threads too shallow. We used it for water when we isolated a hen with her new chick and awoke to it spilled open on the floor of the coop each morning. Plastic is so soft that you can’t get the base tight, it just pops when it’s snug and skips so it’s loose again.

Once my chickens upgraded to their coop I got a bigger waterer but I was fond of this product. There wasn't any leakage and easy to clean. I would recommend putting stuff under the waterer to raise the height to reduce the chicks throwing their bedding in the water.

The top doesn't screw into the bottom. I bought it for my broody hens so that they could have easy access to water without leaving their eggs for too long. It worked okay until the chicks hatched and became active. The mama hen would knock it over and water would be everywhere. I ended up going to the feed store and buying a better one.

This was the right price for Amazon, but the two pieces were not made for each other. It isn't the same quality as our local feed store.

Do not buy. This things is awful. It doesnt stay together and is built awful. Its absolute garbage.

You get what you pay for, and this is a very inexpensive bottle. However, it is absolutely serviceable and works well for what I needed in a small temporary chicken coop. Just be careful when putting the lid on. I gave it 4 stars due to the great value for the price.
