Secret at Mystic Lake (6) (Nancy Drew Diaries)

I gave this as a gift and she loved it.

This book was okay. I didn't like that Nancy solved the mystery by coincidence and not gathering clues and putting them together. Instead, she just happens to find the culprit's hideout out of nowhere! Really? This book is mostly like a survival genre of book,not a mystery genre. There was some creepy moments and action that gets your heart pounding. So overall an average ND book, and I will give this book 3 stars.

Nice story

Great Item

Poorly written and plotted with weak characterizations. This is a mystery series with very little mystery. Events drag along from one act of sabotage to another which become page fillers (and the book is double spaced!) Characters react but do not act and Nancy solves the mystery by stumbling on to the solution. The first person narration is clunky and the book is actually boring. Kids deserve better than this. Why can't we get a well paced, strong mystery story with a Nancy Drew that is leading the action? This Nancy is almost a "slacker" that does little but at the end gets the reward of "solving" a mystery. On the plus side the covers and titles to the new "Diaries" series are great, now the contents need to match!

Bought for my daughter. I was a fan of the old series and I read these with her. Very good story.

Unlike other Nancy Drew books, lacks content.It seems extremely childish sort of story.
