An ambitious overview of military uniforms and traditions in the heyday of European Imperisl History. Inevitably a cursory study because of the huge scale of the subject matter but full of fascinating information, uniform charts and excellent and unusual photographs and illustrations. Definitely a worthwhile addition to any library on military history and military uniforms.

I have been collecting books on this subject and period for around 45 years and this is one of the very best. As clear as it is comprehensive , this book is a mine of useful information , laid out logically and succinctly. Full of useful illustrations.
