I was a bit skeptical at first given how inexpensive this hard drive was, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it's been working so far. It was well-packaged and easy to set up, and I've had no issues with performance. The transfer speeds are solid, and it’s handled all my storage needs without any problems. For the price, this is an absolute steal! So far, so good!

This has become my drive of choice for a C: drive. On this order I am using them as a clone back-up (clone 1 & clone 2 ) for a small business owner. That way they only loose 1 days worth of the work at best. It also gives them 2 chances to get back up and running with less stress.Data back-ups are done on another larger internal Seagate drive.This is not being used as a 24/365 runtime drive. That said, I can not find a really good reason to move up to the WD Black drives that would be a choice for 24/365 constantly on & high demand usage.Conclusion:Best drive for speed, durability, and price.Will be buying more.Amazon is my choice as a vendor. 5 (five) STARS TO AMAZON

Use this to build a new computer

I bought a 500GB hard drive to install Windows 7 along with my Windows 8, since I find certain programs work better with both OS's.My previous 500GB hard drive is an old one from a Dell computer I bought before I got into computer building, and I was surprised that this one is thinner and so much quieter. I didn't think there could be that much difference between mechanical hard drives, but there's a huge difference between new and old.That's all I can say. It worked right out of the box (and was nicely protected), it's fast for a hard drive but nothing compared to an SSD, it makes very little noise and it's relatively cheap compared to others I looked at.

last seagate purchased was a 20mb unit for $350.00 proprietary for apple computers 1982 approx.. they've come a long waysince the early days. So far this unit is working perfectly but we will have to wait and see in a couple of years if its still workin ok.I'm using it as a backup drive for my main HD's in a two bay backup box from ineo.

I paid about $35 for this drive In July, 2017, in a sealed, clear vacuum-sealed plastic package, probably sealed at the Seagate factory. Many, many folks don't need any more than 200 GB, or even 120 GB, unless they are heavy into video, 10,000 songs, etc. I advise against buying a used drive without knowing how many hours of operation it has on it. I was looking for a new 200GB drive for our daughter's music-hungry PC. (She had topped out with a 120GB drive). This 500GB drive was the closest new drive I found at a reasonable price. I installed it, copied Win10 and user files from the old hard drive and everything has been good. Be aware when purchasing NOS (New Old Stock) that the manufacturer's warranty for hard drives usually starts on the day the drive was manufactured so when buying a 3+ year old new drive, there is probably no manufacturer's warranty left. Buy from a seller that give his/her own warranty.
