Plastic Latch Set for Standard Mailbox Repair

My mailbox flap would not stay close due to broken clips so I tried rigging it until I decided to see what better options were out there. I didn’t know these little clips were sold. I ordered them they came and I installed them in seconds. Done. Worth the money.

This kit of parts for a standard mailbox does exactly what it is designed for. Replaces the plastic mailbox door closing latch and mount. Easy to install; no tools needed. Fits perfectly and adds useful life to a standard mailbox whose original closing latch and mount had broken after a decade of use. Very satisfied.

The slots in the upper part of the mailbox were too narrow for the latch to fit. I had to take a file to the latch plastic and try not to damage the fastening clip groove. Could have filed the metal box and wallowd out the hole I suppose, but I was hoping for a perfect fit on a “standard” American mailbox. But it works fine. Just as sturdy as the original.

Salutation to the reader, I share my experience with this latch set. I purchased this latch replacement for my mother's mailbox since the piece that is used to hold the top latch went missing after an accident occurred and our mailbox was knocked down. Other reviews have commented the replacement did not fit their mailbox, but I was able to insert the latch and lock with no difficulties. The description for this model says the dimensions are 6 x 4 x 0.3 inches, so I suggest to measure the openings on your mailbox to compare with the size of this latch replacement.The material of the latch is plastic and though feels durable, when I was trying to learn how to remove the lock piece the surface easily scratched by my fingernail when trying to remove the piece which made me disappointed as I had no intention to scratch the product. I would prefer to upgrade to a latch replacement set with stronger materials that does not scratch as easily as this model. The items did not come with instructions, but watching a video helped with the ease of the assembly. I and my relatives are content and buoyant with the results. Despite what my nails did the lock piece, I would recommend this item as the replacement does the task as advertised.
