Incredible alternative to wet setting and heat setting
The media could not be loaded. First and foremost, I'm not a professional.I have never had success with hot rollers, for whatever reason. It always feels like the only part of my hair that takes any curl is the end. And they just don't give me lasting curls. Wet setting usually is my go-to. But I also really like sleep. Once upon a time, getting ready involved a curling iron that took a thousand years to wrap every strand just for sub-par results and damaged hair. The trick to curling your hair effectively is for your hair to dry and/or cool in the shape you want. And for ALL of it to do that, not just the tip (which is why they suggest using a curling iron from the root). This how the Caruso is so effective. The steam makes your hair do both, given enough time to set. That's why curling your hair with curling irons falls flat so quickly. When I use the Caruso, I will set my hair with the rollers (I find it extremely beneficial to set the clip over the steamer for a few seconds to get the hair that is not making direct contact with the roller nice and warm) and then wrap it with a head scarf and let it sit while I do my makeup. On average, it's about an hour, but I wait until the very last minute to remove them. Some tips!-purchase additional rollers if you're hoping to use the same size roller on your whole head-don't leave the roller or cap over the steam for too long. If condensation builds enough to drip, your hair will get wet and never dry. This system is not meant to dry your hair.-if you try to roll too much hair, the cap won't fit, if it's not enough hair, the roller will slip right off, but sometimes the cap for whatever reason, just won't get a tight grip no matter what you do. In this case, try flipping the cap over. I've come to recognize which caps aren't a snug fit and I roll them onto the top of my head, so they have less gravity to fight. This is also why I wrap them up with a silk scarfSome cons-as someone mentioned these are super annoying to travel with. I mean, it's easier than traveling with hot rollers for sure, but between the hard plastic cap and the large steamer, it takes up space in luggage for sure.-like I mentioned above some of caps are loose-fitting. I don't know if that's because the heat and steam stretch them out over time or what, but the cap plays a huge role in getting a propper curl, so it's worth trying to make it work. All in all, I LOVE this system. My hair is about shoulder length now, but I usually keep it shorter. At it's shortest, the petit was my jam, but I currently use the small, sometimes the medium. I have no idea how you would get a tight curl with long hair, I'd imagine you need a lot of rollers. But it's perfect for my hair. It's my go-to when a wet set just isn't an option. It's faster and healthier than hot curling irons and has better results than hot rollers.

I HAD to write this review !!!
I am having a very busy day - but I had to take time out to write this review. This is the best beauty care item I have purchased in a LONG, LONG time. I am growing my hair out long. It is just barely past shoulder length now. It's baby soft and fine, but not thin.I practice medicine which means a couple of things specific to this item:(1) I need to look put together and professional every day(2) I need something that cuts down on my getting-ready-for-the-day preparation timeThe pain of growing one's hair out is that it often reaches stages that require DAILY routines that require a long time to accomplish.Plus those routines usually involve lots of heat ... e.g. curling irons, hot rollers, etcBad news because:(1) I don't have lots of time to spare.(2) All of that heat was actually changing the color of my hair - so I knew it wasn't doing the hair shafts any favorsI bought this product thinking, "What the heck ... if it's as great as it sounds, YAY. If it's not ... well, I'll send it back."I am definitely in "YAY" mode ! !It is fast and easy to use. It's easy on the hair -- in fact, good for the hair. AND the curls REALLY DO LAST. As in at least 2 days. Actually, today (and this is the THIRD day after initial curling) my hair still looked nice enough to go to work with nothing more than brushing it again. When I first got up I thought "no way - I'm going to have to curl it all again." Then I brushed it through, and, VOILA! Ready to go for another day. Seriously! Here are some tips I have learned:1. You don't want the spongy part of the curler to be wet. You want it to be HEATED with the steam. If you wait until it is wet, your curl won't set right ... and will fall out because they will be damp themselves.2. Plug it in and give it a few minutes (3 or so) to work up a good steam. If you start curling before the steam is really going, your first curlers won't get as "steamed up" as the later ones, and you will end up with inconsistent results.3. Separate the hair you are going to roll onto the curler BEFORE you put the curler on the steamer. Because the curler will cool down quickly if you take it off the steam, then set it down while you are getting the hair ready. So straight from steamer to hair!4. I have found that if I press down on the curler (gentle pressure) as it sits on the steamer, the steam seems to distribute more evenly through the curler. The product comes with an order form for additional curlers of whatever size you want. They take several weeks to arrive when ordered that way - but are cheaper than ordering them on Amazon. However, you can use the bigger curlers and just wind the hair tightly on them for about the same result as the using the smaller curlers wound at medium tension. It doesn't require much storage space, so it packs great! I really appreciate the storage bag for the curlers/clamps, too.Oh, a last tip. Get a sharpie pen, and mark "J" for Jumbo, "L" for Large, "M" for Medium, "S" for Small, and "P" for Petite on both ends of the respective-sized curlers. That makes it easier to grab the right one quickly as you are 'rolling along'.GREAT PRODUCT ! TEN STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
