Fluidmaster 400H Universal Toilet Fill Valve, High Performance, 1-Pack

OK, here's my story....purchased a "super-duper" Fluidmaster fill valve at the local hardware store. Installation was easy. Getting it to work was impossible. 2 hours later I gave up. First it worked fine. Then the float stuck and it wouldn't fill. Next test flush it worked fine. Next flush it filled and would not shut off. This went on for an hour, I tried everything. Looked in my 1st floor toilet which works fine for 10 years. I saw it was a Fluidmaster 400H, so I ordered one from Amazon. Came next day (thanks, Amazon!!!) installed 15 minutes and works perfect. HOLD ON....not done yet. :) Now the 3rd floor bath toilet wasn't working. I ordered ANOTHER 400H, was delivered next day (thanks again, Amazon!!!) ... installed in 15 minutes and works perfectly. So.....my lesson: forget the super-duper, "does the laundry, washes the kitchen floor" versions of Fluidmaster and just go with the "no-nonsense, it's just a stupid toilet valve and does its job" 400H. I got 3, all work perfect and one is 10 years old. Also....best to replace the water supply hose at the same time. Cheap to buy and save yourself headaches. The small washer on each end may leak since its several years old. End of story.

Works great and was easy to install. The adjustable height made it simple to fit the toilet, and the water level was easy to set. It runs quietly and feels like a good quality replacement.

This fill valve was very easy to install and works very well. The two things I'd really like to point out are the instructions and the fine tuning adjustments. The instructions are very well written with the every day person in mind. Clear, concise, and has pictures! The adjustments built into the valve are great, so you get the toilet working exactly as it's supposed to with having to be a pro. Definitely a recommended item if you need it.

I picked this up to replace an older, noisy fill valve in a Kohler toilet, and overall it’s a solid upgrade. Install was about as straightforward as it gets. If you’ve ever opened a toilet tank before, you can handle this. Shut off the water, swap the valve, adjust the height, and you’re basically done. Took me maybe 10–15 minutes taking my time. The instructions are clear, and the adjustment dials make it easy to fine-tune both the tank and bowl water levels. Performance-wise, it’s noticeably better than what it replaced. Fills faster, much quieter, and the tank shuts off clean without that lingering hiss you sometimes get with older valves. Flush feels more consistent too. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the refill hose clip. On my Kohler setup, that clip just would not stay put - it kept slipping off and turning into a mini water feature inside the tank. Not exactly what you want. I ended up using a small zip tie to secure it, and that solved the problem immediately. Once that was handled, everything worked perfectly. Build quality feels solid, and the adjustability is a nice bonus if you’re trying to dial things in or save a little water. Bottom line: very easy install, quiet and efficient performance, just be prepared to improvise a bit with the hose clip depending on your toilet setup.

This item was very easy to install and worked perfectly for my Church toilet. It took me less than five minutes to remove the old valve and install this new one. It is not super quiet, but it does the job.

Works great install was easy very quiet no adjustment needed (for my toilet) every time I buy Fluidmaster I am so happy with the results and functions.

This flush valve is as advertised. Accessory parts needed for the install were provided with very clear instructions. Install took about 30 minutes and did not require any struggles making connections at the floor in hard to reach areas at the lowest part of the tank in the back. This makes a do it yourself repair completely doable.

I happen to be near a bathroom when I heard a strange new sound. Upon removing the toilet tank lid, I discovered that the top of the old valve had spontaneously snapped off, and the old valve was spraying water all over, mostly contained by the tank lid. Weird. This was a simple swap for the broken original part. Five minute job. Works well.

Reading other people's comments on being the wrong size is exactly why I bought it!! The inlet fitting is 7/8 inch(22mm) , fitted straight out of the box, just had to adjust height . Worked a treat. Again, the inlet is 7/8 inch, measure your original inlet pipe to be sure.
