We got this for the summer months upstairs to cut down on some of the humidity levels in the house. The D (I'll call that for the dehumidifier so I don't have to spell out the word so much). The D is a pretty good quality. Let me start with the size. If you have a large basement I would recommend the ones with the pumps and hoses inside. This although it is quite large and efficient seems to work better in a smaller enviroment. We have a huge basement where I carry this downstairs buy the handles on the sides and I turn it on full blast down there. It cuts down on the humidity quite well. However, I am not really sure how effective it is for a large basement with no walls. It makes a lot of noise of course. It sounds similar to a wall air conditioner or a microwave. The casters are mint as I can roll this around the house on carpet with no problem at all. the auto shut off works real well. I forgot and left it running all night and went to check and it had shut off with the bucket being full and no leakage. I looked at reports on top D's and found that this ranked quite high. It is worth the money to get the largest that you can afford. Otherwise why get one at all? The bucket is easy to take out and has a carrying handle so I don't spill water when dumping. The temperature level is easy to set and leave with confidence. Its nice looking and seems built at a quality level. I should add I would never really purchase just because its another item to purchase but other household members felt and correctly so that the basement keeps in much better shape with the moisture level down in the 50s. So in the fall as now we don't need it upstairs and I leave it run downstairs and it starts at about 60 percent and then lowers to as low as 39 percent over time during the day. I get about one bucket as its usually shut off when somebody is down there because who wants to listen to the noise. However, with practical usage I feel and they definitely feel it keeps the moisture levels more correct in the basement which helps the furniture etc. My opinion is if you need something for a basement look for the pumps that have a hose. However, this is working well in the basement and it has some portability to it so with effort I can carry it upstairs to use very easily and much more efficiently in the living or dining room where drops in humidity occur quite quickly. Very happy I purchased at the price its stated and would recommend.

I initially gave this a 3 star review since I thought the unit was failing (see original review below). However, I eventually figured out the drain line had become clogged with a biofilm and gunk buildup. After clearing the line, the unit works correctly. It seems that the tube wasn't able to keep up with the rate at which the unit produced condensate. Below is my original 3 star review so you can see how the issue manifested. I got this in July 2024 and it worked quite well until summer 2025. At that point the function that allows it to drain through a hose stopped working so suddenly you had to manually empty the tank every couple of days.

Seems like a fine dehumidifier, but the instructions fail to explain the various modes. Fortunately, when I calIed the Consumer Services number I was able to speak to a human being. I wanted to attach a hose leading to a floor drain. She said that, if I press the Comfort button, the water will fill the bucket instead of draining into the floor drain. It also gives you a preset percentage of humidity. What I needed was Continuous mode, which kicks in when you manually set the percentage of humidity (using the + and - buttons)—it doesn't matter whether the Continuous button is pressed. Also, the number that you normally see on the display is the actual humidity level, not the one you set it to. 2/27 After using Continuous mode for a few days, I noticed that the LED display always said 30%—and if that's the actual humidity level, that's drier than needed, which means that the machine is using more energy and working harder than necessary. I called again to ask, Why, if I set the level to 40% (thereby invoking Continuous mode), the display always shows 30%. I didn't get a clear answer. The rep said that, if I don't want it that dry, I should switch to Comfort mode. But if Comfort mode means that the water fills the bucket instead of going to the floor drain, that's not what I want. The manual refers to "preset" humidity levels for both Comfort and Continuous mode, but she was not able to tell me what those levels are, except to say, "They range from 35% to 45 or 55%," that is, she didn't really know the answer. Further, if the levels are preset for Continuous mode, that means you can't actually set the level you want. My opinion of their documentation and their Consumer Services reps is at a new low. 5/11/25. I am taking away stars. The Midea dehumidfier worked well enough for two years. Then the defrost function quit. My plumber said that these days dehumidifiers tend to last only two or three years. This is just another example of planned obsolescence, loading the planet with waste.

I have had this for just over a year now. For the most part, it does the job, but I do have one big issue with it. Like other (many, most, all???) dehumidifiers, you can only set the desired humidity in increments of 5%. If I set the unit to 45% it will run pretty much all the time but it keeps the indoor humidity right around 48-50%. If I set the desired humidity to 50%, it turns on and off throughout the day, but the actual indoor humidity stays around 62-64% which I find too high. Why does a 5% increase in the desired humidity setting increase the actual humidity by over 10%? I kind of wish I could set it in 1% increments to see how that works for me, but there is no option for that. The app has worked well for me and was easy to setup. I like the fact that I have the option to move it throughout the house and use the bucket or I can just leave it by a drain and use a hose for continuous drainage, bypassing the bucket.

We live near a body of water and discovered a mildew problem on our lower level, which is where my Watercolor Studio is. To my horror I noticed mildew under the sinks and even on my purses in my storage closet, so I was in a panic to resolve before my artwork was infected. First I tried Damp Rid, and that’s a good product, but I needed something stronger. My neighbor recommended this machine. So easy to set up, The minute we plugged it in, we noticed improvement! Seriously this machine pulls GALLONS of water a day out of our air. We live in SoCal near the Back Bay and can’t believe how many times a day we are emptying this machine. I actually use the water for my plants, and although my husband was suspicious at first, there have been no adverse effects. Except savings on our water bill! The smelly odors are gone, and even the cats like to hang out on this level more because the air is fresh and clean. Pros: removes excess moisture in the air, mitigating the growth of mildew and mold on surfaces, freshens the air, does not dry skin Cons: the water reservoir is HEAVY when full, and awkward to lift/empty. a person without much upper body strength might prefer to check the unit regularly and empty before it’s full. Also these units blow warm air! That’s good in cool weather but not so great when it’s hot out. Also, there’s an auto shut off, but the unit doesn’t alert you, the fan just turns off, so checking the unit regularly is a must. Regardless for me, it solves my problem and warms my room at night when the cool breezes blow so I am extremely pleased!

I am so glad I made this purchase. I was hesitant When shopping because it's a chunk of change to spend and I wanted to make sure I got a good quality product. So glad I went with this one. It does the job and I'm amazed at how much water fills up when it pulls the moisture out of the air. I live in Texas and a few months out of the year when the humidity is higher this has saved the day. My mom has COPD and this has helped a lot with air quality and her breathing. It makes my other household appliances run more efficient by controlling the moisture and the house feels so much better. Because it pulls the moisture out of the air I think it also helps with the actual house as well. I try to keep things well ventilated but in high humidity when I have to keep Windows shut this really saves our house from the walls getting sticky and any moisture buildup. Easy to use functions. It will beep a few times and automatically shut off once the water has filled up so no spills. I empty the compartment when I'm ready and pop it back in and it turns back on. When you turn it on it will show you the humidity level in your room and it shows you as the humidity level goes down. I put it on the Comfort setting and it regulates perfectly. It must be energy-efficient because I have not noticed any increase in my utility bill. I have used it on and off for several months now and no issues. It's on rollers so it can easily be moved into different rooms. I haven't had to do that I just put it in the biggest open room and let it do its thing and it seems to cover my whole 1800 square foot house. When I first got it I moved it into two different big areas of the house to nip it in the bud and now I've been able to keep it and one bigger open area and the air in the house feels great. It does have some noise to it when it's running but nothing intrusive and I find it soothing. The container at the bottom that fills up with water has a handle inside and the handle is very sturdy. I was extra cautious emptying it the first couple times because I didn't want any of the water to spill. The handle is very sturdy however and I emptied in the tub no problem. Once emptied, you slide in pop it right back in and it's good to go. You can set it to run on a timer or to stay at a certain moisture level. I don't leave it on 24 hours. There's really no need even in high humidity. I will run it part of the day usually letting it fill up a couple Cycles then leave it off at night. The water is secure when it fills up if it has to sit but I try to empty it right away. Although the water collected doesn't appear dirty I would definitely not recommend using it for drinking water for your pets or to water house plants. I either pour it in the tub or shower or I pour it outside for one of my trees or outdoor plants. Great buy , very pleased!!

UPDATE: Lasted less than one year. Compressor doesn't click on but the fan blows like the rest of the machine. I live in Western Mass where the slow motion Connecticut River and it's tributaries and feeder streams pump humidity frequently into the 90-100% range. I had TWO of the fridge brand and they BOTH blew up in just one season and didn't do the job this unit does in terms of removing water. I honestly feel bad throwing the water down the drain because there's so much of it. It pulled no less than SIX gallons of water out of my basement ( which is generally drier than most ) in 24 hours, then continued to pull until it got the % down to 50% which is what I set it to do. I can't say enough about this unit other than I am most-pleased and had no idea what was possible with a truly-functional unit. Furthermore this is rated approximately 50 pts but is WAY more effective than the TWO junk 70 pt units I replaced. I'm hoping it's efficient because the Fridge units shot my electric bill up $30/month and this one is supposed to be energy efficient.

Due to the voltage. This appliance works on 115v and has an American spec plug. You need to add to this purchase a power converter from 220v to 110v. That is an extra 200AED. Ultimately if an appliance is sold by Amazon US, don’t buy it. Lesson learned here.

Wrong voltage for Singapore market! Do not buy unless you plan to use a voltage converter!

I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! I bought the Midea 4,500 sq. ft. dehumidifier (without the pump) because I live in an apartment, so I don’t need a pump. Costco had the same model with a pump for a little less before it sold out, but I needed one right away. If you have a basement, I’d definitely recommend getting the pump version if it’s available. I let the unit sit upright for 24 hours before turning it on, just to be safe (similar to what you do with a portable air conditioner). I started it on Turbo Mode, and I was amazed. Within just one hour, the humidity dropped by 20%, even while the temperature outside was rising. The apartment became noticeably more comfortable. Later in the afternoon, I switched it to Comfort Mode, which has done a great job maintaining a comfortable humidity level without making the air feel too dry. I also purchased a separate thermometer/hygrometer so I could monitor the humidity and temperature, and it confirmed just how well this unit performs. The noise level is much better than I expected. In Comfort Mode, it’s more of a gentle humming sound and is significantly quieter than my portable air conditioner. Overall, this dehumidifier has exceeded my expectations. It’s powerful, efficient, quiet, and has made a huge difference in the comfort of my apartment. At this rate, I might even be dehumidifying my neighbours’ apartments too! 😂 Highly recommended! Edit: I’m so glad I purchased this size unit. I can go 24+ hours before needing to empty the water tank, which is a huge convenience. I’ve owned smaller models in the past that needed to be emptied multiple times a day. Since I don’t use a pump or continuous drain, that quickly becomes annoying. This larger capacity has made a big difference.

I have a heated garage that has poor drainage for many reasons. This has pulled 20% moisture out of the air when the snow melts and has kept things in better shape. It's a double-garage with an extended side part. I have not made use of the wifi/app portion. The back port to set up a drain tube into a bucket or barrel has threading on the outside for the cap, so be aware that fitting a tube will require precise measurements.
