Makes rain showers enjoyable in California
I had a rain showers installed when I remodeled my bathrooms thinking it was a good idea. With the 2.5gpm limit at the time in California (since reduced further) I never really had a good experience using the old rain showers. With so many nozzles and the 2.5gpm limit it felt more like a drizzle than a rain shower. Today I replaced the old head with this new one (1.5gpm) and the pressures back! Water comes out with force and stays hot when it hits me. This 1.5gpm head is better in every way than the old 2.5gpm shower head and makes rain showers enjoyable again in California!

A satisfying 1.5GPM low flow shower head
We have used many low flow shower heads over the years with flow rates varying from 0.9GPM (unusable) to 2.0GPM. Several years ago, I settled on a 1.75GPM plastic shower head that had acceptable but not great shower quality. After several years of daily use, the nozzles were clogging and it's time for another experiment. When I purchased this High Sierra Half Dome 1.5GPM shower head, my hope was that we would save a little water while holding steady on shower feel. A relatively low bar.As it turned out, the High Sierra is way more satisfying than the previous shower head. In fact, my wife was convinced that it was using more than 1.5GPM because of the apparent water flow. Not true! I had already measured the flow rate with our 90PSI water pressure and the output was spot on at 1.5GPM. Nice! The downside to this shower head is cost and noise. It's noticeably louder than any of our prior shower heads but not enough that I would replace it.After using the shower head for a couple of weeks I decided we could save even more water by switching to the 1.25GPM model. That lead to purchasing the High Sierra Classic 1.25GPM shower head. In fact, I prefer it. The shower quality is completely fine and not much of a downgrade from 1.5GPM. A huge benefit is that it's quieter and it's less expensive. No need for the extra metal in the "rain shower" model which is solely cosmetic.Bottom line, i highly recommend this low flow shower head and suggest that you give the 1.25GPM Classic version a try. Unfortunately, the 1.25GPM model was not available from Amazon so I purchased it directly at High Sierra's website.

A Better Shower With the Same Amount of Water
This review is for the 2.0 gpm model, nickel finish.Bottom line: A Keeper - the Half Dome shower head has made showers more enjoyable, and it looks great, but it is loud.I bought it to replace a well-functioning 2 gpm shower head about 4" in diameter, with about 40 tiny nozzles. The old one just felt weak, like some sort of reduced-calories bathing experience. The Half dome came in a plain box. Mine arrived without any teflon tape (so be sure to add that to your order if you don't have any sitting around home). The head looks and feels like a high-quality product. It threaded easily onto the shower pipe, and sealed well right from the start.Right from the start, showers were more pleasant. The water comes out of a single 1"+ hole, and feels more pleasantly natural (more variable, not just weak, steady streams) than it did from the other head. Water from the Half Dome also feels denser and warmer. It's a shower head you will want to linger under, not just turn off as soon as you finish rinsing. For some reason, the thing is loud. It puts out the static sound of a radio tuned between AM stations. If you're sensitive to this noise, look elsewhere. I love the thing anyway. One note: High Sierra sells a version with a trickle valve (lets you turn on/off the shower by pushing a single button on the head) that may be worth it if you want to really save water. At least give it a look.

Excellent, efficient shower head
We love the elegant design and more importantly, the energy-efficiency of this shower head. It works well, and we never need to run water at full force to get a stream powerful enough to rinse shampoo or soap. Highly recommended!

Love this showerhead so much I bought another!
I got this showerhead because my wife didn't like the way the old one sprayed in her eyes. We're on well water with just ok pressure and this low gpm model works great, providing thick drops. I love the solid brass construction - so much better than the plastic ones. I also bought a long horizontal arm so the water comes from directly overhead. Installation was easy. Always use teflon tape.Update: We still love it and I just bought a second one in nickel for an outdoor shower that was always weak and almost useless. I can't believe what a change with this High Sierra. The bigger, more powerful drops make it a joy to shower outside in the country air.

Good, but different, low water shower head
Avoiding Tier 2 water prices here in our county is always a challenge with our teenage daughter and her long showers. This shower head does indeed use 1.5 GPM (measured) and is helping to keep our water usage down. However, it does provide a different shower "experience" than "traditional" shower heads with well defined water streams. This puts out high energy droplets in varying sizes that do provide for a very good rinse but the "feel" is different. It takes a few showers to get used to it. The surrounding rim of the nozzle seems to keep the spray contained well but I do notice mineral deposits forming on the rim.

Small but Effective
I needed a good flow controlled head for a small walk-in shower with a flat floor and a modern cut-out drain that traps air bubbles and drains slower than average as a result. I previously had a monstrosity-head hemorrhaging water down the drain and all over, and I like long, long showers and water is expensive here. Enter this puppy. It's tiny in scale. Looks funny at first. I got the 1.8gpm head. Peppers you with large drops and sprays you with small drops. Doesn't just "mist" you. Creates a good shower. Fixed the draining annoyance. Saved me a lot of water. You'll probably like it.

Rain shower upgrade
I replaced a “Rain” shower head with this High Sierra Half Dome shower head and it was an upgrade. I never felt like the rain shower head had enough pressure and it would drain my hot water heater before I was done showering. With the High Sierrra shower head I haven’t run out of hot water and it takes less time to rinse my (long) hair. It is much smaller than the prior shower head but so much more effective. Well worth it. I am very pleased with my purchase.
