seems good for reason I purchased
I bought it because I have hard water and was tried of dealing with calcium deposits. this design seems to avoid that problem, good water pressure! but achieved at the expense of area spread. The low flow 1.8 (CA requirement) might be part of it. I have mixed feeling about it. Not as satisfying as I would like (spread), but good pressure and won't clog up with mineral deposits.

Great Shower Head
You would never know this is a water saver shower head. It provides great pressure and covers your body like a soft spring rain. I used it to replace a larger, more expensive, water guzzling shower head that just wasn't getting the job done. It's amazingly easy to instal. I highly recommend this shower head and would definitely buy again.

A satisfying 1.5GPM low flow shower head
We have used many low flow shower heads over the years with flow rates varying from 0.9GPM (unusable) to 2.0GPM. Several years ago, I settled on a 1.75GPM plastic shower head that had acceptable but not great shower quality. After several years of daily use, the nozzles were clogging and it's time for another experiment. When I purchased this High Sierra Half Dome 1.5GPM shower head, my hope was that we would save a little water while holding steady on shower feel. A relatively low bar.As it turned out, the High Sierra is way more satisfying than the previous shower head. In fact, my wife was convinced that it was using more than 1.5GPM because of the apparent water flow. Not true! I had already measured the flow rate with our 90PSI water pressure and the output was spot on at 1.5GPM. Nice! The downside to this shower head is cost and noise. It's noticeably louder than any of our prior shower heads but not enough that I would replace it.After using the shower head for a couple of weeks I decided we could save even more water by switching to the 1.25GPM model. That lead to purchasing the High Sierra Classic 1.25GPM shower head. In fact, I prefer it. The shower quality is completely fine and not much of a downgrade from 1.5GPM. A huge benefit is that it's quieter and it's less expensive. No need for the extra metal in the "rain shower" model which is solely cosmetic.Bottom line, i highly recommend this low flow shower head and suggest that you give the 1.25GPM Classic version a try. Unfortunately, the 1.25GPM model was not available from Amazon so I purchased it directly at High Sierra's website.

Makes rain showers enjoyable in California
I had a rain showers installed when I remodeled my bathrooms thinking it was a good idea. With the 2.5gpm limit at the time in California (since reduced further) I never really had a good experience using the old rain showers. With so many nozzles and the 2.5gpm limit it felt more like a drizzle than a rain shower. Today I replaced the old head with this new one (1.5gpm) and the pressures back! Water comes out with force and stays hot when it hits me. This 1.5gpm head is better in every way than the old 2.5gpm shower head and makes rain showers enjoyable again in California!

A Better Shower With the Same Amount of Water
This review is for the 2.0 gpm model, nickel finish.Bottom line: A Keeper - the Half Dome shower head has made showers more enjoyable, and it looks great, but it is loud.I bought it to replace a well-functioning 2 gpm shower head about 4" in diameter, with about 40 tiny nozzles. The old one just felt weak, like some sort of reduced-calories bathing experience. The Half dome came in a plain box. Mine arrived without any teflon tape (so be sure to add that to your order if you don't have any sitting around home). The head looks and feels like a high-quality product. It threaded easily onto the shower pipe, and sealed well right from the start.Right from the start, showers were more pleasant. The water comes out of a single 1"+ hole, and feels more pleasantly natural (more variable, not just weak, steady streams) than it did from the other head. Water from the Half Dome also feels denser and warmer. It's a shower head you will want to linger under, not just turn off as soon as you finish rinsing. For some reason, the thing is loud. It puts out the static sound of a radio tuned between AM stations. If you're sensitive to this noise, look elsewhere. I love the thing anyway. One note: High Sierra sells a version with a trickle valve (lets you turn on/off the shower by pushing a single button on the head) that may be worth it if you want to really save water. At least give it a look.

It's a really messy head and creates a lot of steam
It's really messy and in a tight shower space water is just spraying everywhere. It also creates a lot more steam with this type of spray and our shower fan is not able to keep up with it. The walls and ceiling end up much more wet than with our past shower heads. This would cause a lot more mold issues.I think it would be fine in a larger bathroom with a larger shower and a really beefed up shower fan. Other than that I would not recommend.

LOVE IT: 1.5gal FEELS LIKE >1.8gal
This 1.5gal/min shower head FEELS like MORE water than the 1.8gal/min "rain" head it replaced. Appears to be very high quality as well.
